I recently visited Tinker Tailor, Macquarie twice. On both occasions, my experience was marred by an incredibly rude staff member. On my first visit, I arrived at the cafe to find the staff member preparing for the day, seemingly behind schedule. Despite patiently waiting for them to finish their preparations, I was met with rudeness and indifference. Hoping it was just an off day, and my coffee being okay, I decided to give it another go. I encountered the same staff member and requested a very small favour—asking them politely if they could write the name of the pastries on the bag, as I intended it as a gift for a friend and couldn't write on the bag myself once the pastries were in the bag. To my surprise, the request was met with rudeness again, perhaps even a sense of contempt as the names were scrawled on the bag. On both occasions I was the only customer. When I got in the car and took a sip of my coffee, there was no Equal sweetener, even though I asked for it to be added to the coffee before the milk. It wasn’t even added after the milk. It seems that the staff member, simply cannot be bothered and is unhappy working there. It appears that the owner does not read the reviews as I see no responses. This rudeness and indifference has been raised by others (and rightly so, nobody likes their coffee with a scowl). Given the reputedly good food as the draw card, my guess is the owner doesn’t care about staff behaviour or reviews. Owner, if you are reading - please know that a customer always votes with their feet. This customer will, and I suspect slowly other Canberrans will follow. No one likes to pay high prices for okay food and coffee with a frown. There’s a fabulous coffee shop called “Divine” just opened up a few doors down serving piping hot raisin toast for Brekky and other delights, plus a Thai lunch and dinner menu and their coffee is better that Tinker Tailor. I highly recommend visiting the Divine Café. They offer equally excellent coffee and their staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cosy and warm. The opposite of Tinker Tailor, Macquarie. Macquarie coffee goers, Tinker Tailor doesn’t care about its customers. The food and coffee are really not that great tasting— please don’t settle for less. Vote with your feet or give them feedback so they improve. But I’d the your losses and head...
