Two Before Ten Aranda — Restaurant in District of Belconnen

We have been going to this cafe for years and IMO think that they make the best egg and bacon burger around, however today’s effort from the staff was dismal!!! First off the lady came to our table announcing she had an iced long black for us which we didn’t order so she left and walked around confused looking for the right table and offering it to other random patrons only to return a short time later after being redirected to us by another staff member stating this is yours, a long black to which we replied no we ordered an iced mocha and she replied yeah that’s what it is handing it us. As it turned out there was a massive hair hanging out of the cup so we asked for another drink. The lady seemed a bit put out that she had to return the drink. My wife ordered scrambled eggs and hash brown. The plate arrived with an unexpected serving of avocado which my wife dislikes immensely. They took the plate back and returned with the same plate and it was quite evident they had just scraped the avo off as there was still remnants all over the plate. My wife pointed out that it was obvious it had just been wiped off the plate and again the staff member looked put out with a dirty look on her face. I had heard good things about this place and thought I would try it out. Arrived early morning when the cafe wasn't busy and ordered 2 coffees. When we advised the waitress that they were luke warm she was short and abrupt, challenging us on the temperature. (These coffees were luke warm and certainly weren't standard temperature). The waitress rudely offered to make new coffees and then mumbled something to the barista who then also had a grumpy attitude towards us. The new coffee which was basically slammed down on the counter, was returned half full, admittedly hotter but without a smile, acknowledgement or eye contact. We left feeling very uncomfortable. Sadly for these young girls their behaviour and attitude were witnessed by other patrons who gave us a sympathetic look. It was early morning, the day had only just begun and these girls were already serving bad attitude, I'd hate to experience how they treat patrons during a busy lunch time sitting. This place is such a let down. Just moved to Aranda and was excited to try it - had heard good things and the veggie gardens boded well. Unfortunately the standard of the food is just not good enough. Lamb was totally overcooked - grey. Veggies totally undercooked, spinach like strips of plastic. Another time we ordered a burger, which was good! Unfortunately it took an hour and a quarter to arrive. Staff apologised and brought us a free Coke, but how was it even possible with five tables occupied? Gave it another go for the Tuesday night steak special. Once again, meat totally overdone, not rare as requested. A great place for a beer with a lovely garden and local family atmosphere, but the food is not good enough. Judging by other recent reviews and my own chats with Aranda locals, the consensus seems to be that this is a place for a drink, but nothing more.
