Our son-in-law raved about the lamb dumplings here so we arranged a meal before heading to the city for a musical. We ordered three bowls of noodles, fish with sour veggie, dongpou pork, and slow-cooked beef brisket. To that we added an order of the fried lamb dumplings and fried pork dumplings. We loved the texture of the handmade noodles and the delicious and flavourful sauces and broths that it came in. The fish with sour veggie was a delightful find and we have always loved dongpou pork. My son-in-law was right about the lamb dumplings that featured the right mix of meat and fat to give a full flavour of the meat without it being overwhelming. And the pork dumplings were pretty good too. The restaurant manages that fine balance of skin to meat ration for a delightful taste sensation. It's wonderful to be able to enjoy food from the Jiangnan region of China. For a long while, the only Chinese food available was Guangdong (Cantonese) food or food enjoyed by the southern seas Chinese living in southeast Asia. Besides being packed, there was also a continuous stream of takeout orders. You may have to be patient when it's busy but the service was friendly and efficient. Credit cards are accepted and there is paid and free parking in the area. The restaurant is a short stroll from the Dickson bus interchange and the light...
Read moreFlavours of Jiangnan offers a taste of authentic home-style cooking, complete with the warm hospitality of the Aunties and Uncles who run the place. While the ambiance is charming and the owners are undeniably friendly, there are a few aspects that might give potential diners pause.
The first notable point is the pricing, which leans towards the higher end. For the portion sizes provided, it may not be the best value for those seeking a more substantial meal. This could potentially be a deterrent for diners looking for a more budget-friendly option.
On the other hand, the flavors are undeniably reminiscent of true home-cooked dishes from Jiangnan. The authenticity is evident in every bite, making it a unique experience for those craving genuine regional cuisine. The attention to detail in preserving these traditional flavors is commendable.
In conclusion, Flavours of Jiangnan offers a taste of home, but it comes with a price tag that might not be suitable for everyone. If you're willing to pay a premium for genuine, home-style Jiangnan flavors, and value the friendly ambiance, this might be the place for you. However, for those seeking larger portions at a more moderate cost, other options might be worth...
Read moreYou should NEVER go to this restaurant in Dickson. The food was terrible. I literally saw them used the prawn toast and Japanese beans (appetiser) from the COSTCO frozen bags. The noodle and dumplings can only taste salty and no other flavours. To be honest, they taste even worst than home made food. When I provide some kind and gentle feedback, the owners were shouting madly at me and acted like they wanted to have a fight. It was late at night. I was literally scared. When I told my friend about this terrible experience, they said they also hate this restaurant and they actually saw a cockroach there and also heard other customers claiming on their food. To be honest, there are so many Chinese restaurants in Dickson, this is absolutely the WORSt and I don't even want to call their food Chinese. I can assure you the current high rating is pushed up by lots of FAKE or...
