Since we were due for a lunch or dinner date at a restaurant starting with the letter ‘L’ our ‘ABC’ lunch/dinner group chose La Cantina. One of our party had dined here with work colleagues on several occasions and the pizza came highly recommended. Several couples ordered the main dish of calamari to share as an entrée. The calamari was tender and crispy and fine as an entrée but I suspect many would find the portion size small for a main meal. With a long run scheduled for the following day I ordered the Margarita Pizza and it was actually a good size for one and very delicious. My husband ordered barramundi served with clams and he said the fish was excellent but the overall meal size small. He appreciated a few slices of my pizza.😊 Several pasta dishes were ordered and again the serving sizes quite small. Most of us do not have big appetites so not really a problem but if you do enjoy a hearty meal order a few extras. On the the whole the food was good but I would not say exceptional. The Italian decor is lovely - quite elegant. However, I did not feel the ‘ambiance’ others have spoken of in some of the reviews. In fact I felt no warmth or welcome from the staff at all. It was a quiet day for the restaurant which may have accounted for this. It’s 3.5 star ⭐️ from me.

Excellent ambience, lovely staff sort attentive. Romantic events recommend. Food was great, go the lamb shank. Pictures are of the lamb shank which had a lovely Smokey eggplant , cabbage and carrot underlay education beautifully complimented the dish. Interestingly they allowed us to have that as an entree, and we ordered two pasta dishes as main(yes we did it backwards). The seafood pasta was nice because the seafood was fresh(not fishy) and the gnocchi, well for those that know, its hard and time consuming to make from scratch, was melt in mouth stuff. The paintings and Roman feel walls with white tables just tipped it for a dynamic romantic dinner on a Sunday night. Will visit again

La Cantina – Comfort Food Goals Tried La Cantina recently and I’m still thinking about that Gnocchi al Ragu—handmade, pillowy-soft potato gnocchi swimming in a rich, slow-cooked tomato and beef ragu. Absolute Nonna-level goodness, perfectly finished with Grana Padano and rosemary. Total comfort on a plate. Also, do yourself a favour and order the Focaccia al Rosmarino—that bread is so good. Crisp, fragrant, and practically made to be paired with the burrata, heirloom tomatoes, and house-made basil pesto. That combo is a no-brainer. Bonus points: the fit-out is gorgeous. Warm, stylish, and super inviting—perfect for date night or a long lunch with friends. Can’t wait to go back!

Went there to have a nice dinner. Booked a table Before going and asked if they kitchen closed and was told we still have an hour before the kitchen closes. We ordered wood fire pizza and was told after almost 20mins that the order cannot be made as the wood fire pizza oven is turned off an hour ago and surprisingly the waitress who took our order didnt know while taking the order. We waited for entree and ended up getting mains when inquired about the entree the waitress said it was to be prepared in the oven as well so it’s unavailable. Although we weren’t told that the entree is also cooked in same oven or otherwise we would have ordered something else.

The food was average and the service was very unorganized I had to wait for my drinks and reminded twice about them. The waitress was extremely confused and lack training. We liked the decor and interior however wont be coming back as the place is very unorganized and change your nice candle light dinner to a stressful mission of getting the food &...

We couldn’t wait to try your food but sadly it was the biggest disappointment in Canberra so far.

The lamb shank was one of the worst we ever had. Not mentioning the minimal portion of mashed potatoes which were nice. The lamb was so chewy and very dry. It didn’t fall off the bone. If we were dine in I would have returned it. $42 for this was a big joke. Honestly a precooked lamb shank from Coles tastes much better.

I wish the gnocchi were without the beef ragu as were nice and fluffy itself. The beef ragu had only two tiny pieces of beef and the taste of ragu wasn’t pleasant.

I was hoping for a very nice Italian homemade food and then we got this 😞

Thankfully Burrata and pizza saved a bit our dinner.

Definitely it wasn’t a take away worth nearly $130. We paid almost $100 as we bought a Groupon for $70 and paid...
