We passed by Canberra this morning on our way to Moruya and found this cafe recommended as being good for families with kids. We ordered a couple of croissant, sausage roll and the Avo. The place is quite cosy and nice. The outdoor area is perfect for families and the small cubby house playground is perfect for a quick play by the kids before and after food. The food however did not satisfy our palate. As amazing as it looks, taste wise was a bit disappointing. The pistachio and hazelnut croissants were more towards bready type croissant rather than the flaky pastry. The flavoured custard fillings had a strong taste of store bought custard powder. Though the custard fillings were generous, the after taste of the custard powder put us off. The sausage roll was just ok. Nothing exciting to note. The pancakes were not that great and a few bites were enough. The avo tasted good however it unfortunately had a couple of things that can be improved. The poached eggs were more of soft boiled eggs as the yolk was not as runny as expected when you cut into it. The avo smash on the sourdough was a but too little. The avo smash we’re used to was more generous with the avo rather than just a thin layer of it. Overall it was an ok experience but would not go back as it has nothing too exciting that would draw us back here.

First I'll say : the food and coffee are excellent. It's a high quality bakery and they do their fare well. However, the management feels pretty poor. Here's a whinge about my experience today, masquerading as a list of suggestions: 1) put on more than one staff member at the till (he was very nice) 2) don't allow a customer to wait for more than /ten minutes/ for you to slice 2 loaves of bread 3) when someone later in the queue orders the same bread, do not give that late queue person their bread first 4) check that the slicing machine has actually sliced the bread Basically it feels like Wildflour is going through some management teething problems, which makes going there a bit unpleasant if you're just trying to buy some bread and get out. Although the staff today were very pleasant and apologetic when one of our loaves turned out to be uncooked, staff working the previous weekend were lightly rude and seemed too overworked to be able to muster the customer service routine. But again, it doesn't seem to be a staffing issue so much as a management problem. However, the bread is still delicious (when it's baked) and there's a lovely liquor store behind them, which makes for a nice Saturday morning couplet.

We had a soy cap, vegetarian pie, rhubarb brioche and biscoff surpreme. Everything was delicious! The vegetarian pie exceeded expectations. There aren’t many places that make vegetable pies like this - the pastry was flaky and light (not doughy) although the highlight was the filling. It was tasted like a hearty Moroccan soup! Absolutely a must try. Rhubarb brioche reminded me of a tart (had a crust) and bread was soft, custard was perfect amount of sweetness and rhubarb was a good addition for balance. I think what would’ve made it perfect for me was if the bread was a bit fluffier. Biscoff surpreme was delicious and quite generous. Pastry was flaky and centre was soft. We had it early in the morning so I think it was on the sweeter side. Could be shared between 3 people if also trying other sweets. Coffee was soooo good! Atmosphere was inviting and comforting. Highly recommend!

Tucked away in Fyshwick, Wildflour is a must-visit for pastry lovers and families looking for a top-notch café experience. Known for its exceptional croissants, indulgent shakes, and warm atmosphere, this spot consistently delivers quality baked goods and great coffee.

The croissants here are some of the best in Canberra—flaky, buttery, and perfectly layered. Whether you go for a classic plain croissant or something more decadent like almond or chocolate, each bite is a testament to their pastry expertise. Their bread and other baked goods are equally impressive, making it a great place to grab a fresh loaf or a sweet treat.

For families, Wildflour is a fantastic choice. Their kids' shakes are a standout—generous in size, rich in flavor, and sure to be a hit with little ones. The café has a welcoming vibe, with plenty of space for prams and a relaxed setting that makes it easy to enjoy a meal with young kids in tow.

Coffee is consistently good, and the menu offers a solid selection of breakfast and lunch options beyond just pastries. Service is friendly and efficient, even during busy periods.

If you're in Fyshwick and looking for a spot that nails the trifecta of great croissants, excellent kids' shakes, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Wildflour is a top pick. It’s no surprise it has a loyal following—this bakery-café is well...
