Tucked away in Fyshwick, Wildflour is a must-visit for pastry lovers and families looking for a top-notch café experience. Known for its exceptional croissants, indulgent shakes, and warm atmosphere, this spot consistently delivers quality baked goods and great coffee.
The croissants here are some of the best in Canberra—flaky, buttery, and perfectly layered. Whether you go for a classic plain croissant or something more decadent like almond or chocolate, each bite is a testament to their pastry expertise. Their bread and other baked goods are equally impressive, making it a great place to grab a fresh loaf or a sweet treat.
For families, Wildflour is a fantastic choice. Their kids' shakes are a standout—generous in size, rich in flavor, and sure to be a hit with little ones. The café has a welcoming vibe, with plenty of space for prams and a relaxed setting that makes it easy to enjoy a meal with young kids in tow.
Coffee is consistently good, and the menu offers a solid selection of breakfast and lunch options beyond just pastries. Service is friendly and efficient, even during busy periods.
If you're in Fyshwick and looking for a spot that nails the trifecta of great croissants, excellent kids' shakes, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Wildflour is a top pick. It’s no surprise it has a loyal following—this bakery-café is well...
Read moreWe passed by Canberra this morning on our way to Moruya and found this cafe recommended as being good for families with kids. We ordered a couple of croissant, sausage roll and the Avo.
The place is quite cosy and nice. The outdoor area is perfect for families and the small cubby house playground is perfect for a quick play by the kids before and after food.
The food however did not satisfy our palate. As amazing as it looks, taste wise was a bit disappointing. The pistachio and hazelnut croissants were more towards bready type croissant rather than the flaky pastry. The flavoured custard fillings had a strong taste of store bought custard powder. The sausage roll was just ok. Nothing exciting to note.
The pancakes were not that great and a few bites were enough.
The avo tasted good however it unfortunately had a couple of things that can be improved. The poached eggs were more of soft boiled eggs as the yolk was not as runny as expected when you cut into it. The avo smash on the sourdough was a but too little. The avo smash we’re used to was more generous with the avo rather than just a thin layer of it.
Overall it was an ok experience but would not go back as it has nothing too exciting that would draw...

Although the staff today were very pleasant and apologetic when one of our loaves turned out to be uncooked, staff working the previous weekend were lightly rude and seemed too overworked to be able to muster the customer service routine. But again, it doesn't seem to be a staffing issue so much as a management problem.
However, the bread is still delicious (when it's baked) and there's a lovely liquor store behind them, which makes for a nice Saturday...
