To say the experience at Corvina was disappointing would be an understatement. We (group of 8) were the first group to arrive this evening and were seated right by the door. When staff were asked if we could perhaps change tables we were rudely informed that this wouldn't be a possibility, for reasons that remain unknown to myself (there was another unattended table for 8 in the back corner).
Being informed by a friend that the Gnocchi Napoletana was delicious I (and another on the table) eagerly ordered it - alongside the other 6 mains.
I cannot fault the kitchen for speed, the éntrees came out promptly and the main courses arrived shortly thereafter, and all in one go. However this is where things began downhill. One of the waiters decided that rather than walking around the table, she would pass dishes over people's heads to patrons on the other side of the table.
The food was horrendous. The gnocchi is said to be 'house made' - I have had gnocchi purchased from Woolworths that tasted better. Some of them were so overcooked they turned to mush, whilst others were still 'doughy' on the inside. And the sauce wasn't much better, with my partner commenting that it looked like it had be tipped straight out of a can. All this for $24. Needless to say, neither of us that ordered this dish finished it.
My partner (and another on our table) both ordered the Risotto Con Funghi. The menu claimed it was sauteed with garlic and white wine, however both people that ordered it said it tasted like it had no seasoning whatsoever.
To top this all off we experienced the most shocking customer service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. We would have raised the aforementioned food issues with the waiters, had any of them enquired as to how our meals were, or had come over for any purpose other than to ask if we were going to purchase desserts. After the woeful main courses we decided not to. As soon as we said no, it felt as though we were being pushed to leave. The check was promptly brought forward, and as we tried to finish our wine, a waiter stepped forward and interjected that 'we have another booking coming in at 7.30, so could you please prepare to leave' - which wouldn't have been a problem, except for the fact we had booked a slot from 6pm until 8pm and had spent close to $300.
I have never written a complaint about any establishment before online, however I feel truly ripped off. I had heard many good things about Corvina from friends and family but I did not experience any of them tonight. Would not recommend at all and will not be...
Read moreFirst time visiting Corvina Restaurant. It was my daughters birthday. Here are my reasons we will never go there again: 1.We wanted to take a cake. They wanted to charge $2.50 cakeage for each person. Total would have been $60 plus the cost of the cake. Lucky we inquired first and chose not to take one. We have never experienced this at any other restaurant and it spoiled the party. 2. We had a very large group. I feel they should not have taken our booking in the first place as we were squashed and backed into a corner so tight that the waitresses couldn't even serve us. We had to pass meals and drinks over each others heads! 3. Many meals were missed and we had to chase them up. 4. The meals came out luke warm if not cold. 5. The waitresses failed to clear any glasses or plates from our table between courses. By the time dessert came there was no room on our table to comfortably eat them. I had to ask if they could clear the tables. They picked up what they could reach at the end of one table as they had no access. Other tables seemed to be looked after quite well. 6. We had people at our tables crawl under the tables to leave to visit the bathroom as they had no room to move chairs. Ridiculous. 7. One meal had to be returned due to the clumps of long black hair in it. As restitution, she was offered a free dessert? Not another meal? 8. My father's meal - garlic prawns ordered as a main meal was so full of chilli that it burnt his mouth. Now this is a man who eats chilli regularly. It must have been hot! 9. The coffee's came out cold. 10. Our bill came to over $1000 including drinks. It was expensive. For that sort of patronage we deserved better customer service, comfortable seating and hot food. Won't be visiting that place again. The food was...
Read moreDONâT WASTE DATE.NIGHT AT THIS PLACE like we did! Such a terrible disappointment.
Starting off being seated pretty much in the lap of the only 2 other people in the restaurant by the 13 year old wait staff, we asked if we could move seeing initiative was obviously not a strength.
The âItalian breadâ we ordered was stale sliced white loaf from woolies with cold hard packet butter accompanying (pictured) which we didnât need to order as we got the meatballs that had bread but zero heads up from the waiter. Initially thought I was having breakfast at a best western out in Dubbo.
The red onion in the salad accompanying the meatballs I estimate were picked circa 1973 around the same time that the Chianti and Prosecco were opened that we were served. The Negroni was completely undrinkable tasting exactly like out of date, straight cheap gin.
The Gnocchi Neapolitana was like mashed potato with warmed Passats poured on top and the seafood linguini was as bland as reflex copy paper with around 4 strands of linguini as if packet Sam Reno is in short supply. âDo you want cheeseâ also displayed the poor initiative level as it had to be fetched after we said âdoes a bear sh1t in the woodsâ
My communication back after asked how was everything was met with a free Negroni and confused, mildly aggressive silence where in actual fact I should have submitted an invoice for my time to ensure this onslaught of disappointments.
I guess it caters for a certain crowd after seeing the crew at the table next to us sporting Ugg boots and...
