Love and Karma — Restaurant in Gatton

We were really excited to check out another local cafe, as our usual ‘1 Gram’ cafe was closed for the break and we had decided to get food out on a whim.

It was a bit confusing where to go/order when we first arrived and it was a very relaxed atmosphere with the kitchen staff singing/chatting. We were eventually greeted and had our order taken by a lovely young woman, who unfortunately advised us that two of the items we had wanted to order were not available today (mushroom special and corn fritters and they did double check with the kitchen to make sure).

So we went to have a look at the menu (on the window) again, to decide what we may have instead. During this time an older woman (possibly the owner) then approached from the kitchen telling us where the individual menus were located. We let them know we were just deciding out of the currently available options, to which they stated ‘it’s only the corn fritters not available’ and their colleague reminded them the mushrooms were also not available. In response to this she stormed off announcing to the kitchen in an incredibly snarky way, ‘it’s 1:00pm what do they expect’.

It was unprofessional and uncomfortable, so we thanked the woman originally serving us and left. This was a real shame as we were more than happy to select from the other options available and could have just been approached with ‘sorry we have been busy today, so ran out of a few items’, perhaps even making a recommendation for another meal, or not approached at all given we were being served by someone else.

I feel it is also worth noting to check the amount you are being charged by this establishment, as the menu on the window had different prices to that on the...

Greeted by a fairly humourless young girl. Thought we'd try steak burger ... told there was no steak. Ah well. After ordering we decided to eat out the back. The cafe's a bit all over the place, with what seems like 3 separate areas at the end of an arcade.

Decor kind of funky, but we're not sure if the table we sat at was meant for kids or adults. We all had our knees rattling around the underneath of the table, and getting up had to be a carefully planned manoeuvre. Noted that there were used dishes on the other tables the entire time despite us being the only diners in the room the entire time.

One of the party was disappointed with the Lasagna she'd chosen ... her entire meal looked to be very much a child size, and she was still hungry afterwards despite not normally being a big eater. She gave a 3 for the effort. Burger was very nice, he gave it a 5. Nachos looked bland, but tasted OK ... the cream and guacamole fairly light on. We'll be generous and give it a 4.

We went in for brunch with out expectations as we hadn’t heard of this cafe before. We were pleasantly surprised, the location was bigger than expected with plenty of options for seating. The staff were pleasant and efficient, we decided to sit in the extra dinning room out the back that was very spacious. We ordered Eggs Benny Waffles, the berry waffles and the Canadian waffles. With extra plates to share. I ordered a cappuccino with vanilla. The food was awesome and the coffees were perfectly made. I’m really picky with coffee so to say it was made perfectly I mean the milk was textured properly the coffee tampered properly etc. We were very impressed over all and would highly...
