My experience at Roadies Cafe was very mixed. It was Easter Sunday, and multiple signs told us that there was a surcharge of a whopping 21% and that we should be kind to staff. I agree that you should be kind to staff, always. Not just when there is a 21% surcharge. I walked into the cafe and went to the service area and was served very quickly by a very pleasant and courteous staff member. I ordered a large latte and a large iced latte. I was advised that two coffees came to a total of $19.03 for eftpos payment.
After 15 minutes of waiting my coffees were ready. The staff were kind when I collected my order and left. Sadly, the latte was very much a cup of hot milk and my iced latte was more lukewarm. We only discovered this once we had left town towards Barrington at which point it was too late to notify the staff.
Based on this experience we probably wouldn’t visit again. It’s one thing to charge an exorbitant surcharge (10% seems highly appropriate on a public holiday), but when the coffee is pretty ordinary it suddenly becomes expensive dirty dish water.
As we left town we noticed that other cafes in the Main Street were bustling with customers and this is possibly a reflection of my experience this day.
I cannot fault the staff who were lovely and courteous, and if you are after a good atmosphere then you will find it at Roadies. If you want better coffee it might be best to...
Read moreRoadies Café is hands down one of the best spots in Gloucester! From the moment you walk in, the place has such a warm and welcoming vibe — rustic charm with a touch of character that makes you want to sit down, relax, and stay a while.
The food is absolutely top-notch. We tried their breakfast options and everything was cooked to perfection — generous portions, fresh ingredients, and flavours that really hit the spot. Their coffee is also excellent, rich and smooth, easily one of the best brews you’ll find in the area. The menu has a great mix, so whether you’re after a hearty meal, a light bite, or just something sweet with your coffee, you’ll find it here.
The service is what really sets Roadies apart. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely make you feel at home. They’re quick to help with recommendations and always serve with a smile.
It’s also a great stop for travellers passing through — plenty of character, local charm, and a welcoming atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression.

Read more3 star rating as the service was very slow, and inaccurate. The cafe was say 60% and we waited 25 mins for a BLT and risotto (presumably just heated up)! I was also overcharged for items I didn’t receive, which was a simple mistake and easily rectified (got cash refunded). I heard other tables around us also inquiring about food yet to arrive and apologies from staff for mistakes. That aside, the simple home style lunch - blt and risotto - was good and tasty. The scones were good but cream was not ample enough for the scones and went quickly runny so as a package they weren’t...
