I wasn’t going to make a review as this incident happened a few weeks ago, but I feel the need to address it as it is probably the strangest/ rudest encounter I’ve had at any hospitality establishment. I myself, am the manager of an extremely busy cafe in Newcastle, and I’ve never been so outraged by service in my life.
The older, thin woman with dark short hair and glasses has atrocious manners and customer service skills.
My first time here, stopped by at 1pm to grab a coffee to be greeted with this woman slamming and locking the door in my face, and shutting the blinds. Not a word was said.
Confused, as there were plenty of customers still dining outside, some still waiting on their orders. I asked her if the coffee machine was still on, she then opened the door, laughed, and makes me feel as though I’m inconveniencing her. I threw my hands up and told her not to worry about it and went straight to Roadies instead, the staff at roadies were absolutely lovely and the coffee was great.
I was unaware that this cafe closes so early at 1pm, but I don’t think there’s any harm to politely communicate that to your customers! Slamming the door in a customers face is not the answer.
Wouldn’t bother here - it seems as though I’m not the only person who has had a bad encounter with this woman, read previous reviews. How...
Read moreWe arrived for lunch at 12.30pm on a Monday and chose 2 different menu items from the board only to be told when ordering that both were unavailable. We both then chose pulled pork toasties that finally arrived after 20 minutes, although the server did apologise for the wait. When trying to order a coffee after our meal at about 1.05pm we were told “sorry we close at 1pm” and no offer to make us a quick cup for us to drink outside as that was where we were seated or even takeaway. Astounding that a cafe open for lunch closes at 1pm! Anyway, if you want a coffee in Gloucester, I would recommend Roadies, as that’s were we had to go for one after our lunch...
Read moreI recently visited The Common in Gloucester and was blown away by the quality of the coffee and the inviting atmosphere. The single-origin coffee is perfectly brewed, and the quick bites are fresh and tasty. The staff are warm and friendly, making the experience truly enjoyable. I especially appreciate the modern, relaxed décor with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the dog-friendly policy is a wonderful bonus. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Common is a must-visit spot in Gloucester. Highly...
