We were group of six and it was Australia day long weekend and heading to Armidale. Since google suggested this is the top rated restaurant we stop there for the lunch on 26th Jan.
I should categorise this review for several sections since it should be a balance and fair one.
Food The food was authentic , flavoured and delicious. There is no doubt about it. And we enjoyed it a lot after a long drive from Sydney.
Communication. When we went it there was a kid who could speak in English and it was bit difficult to order what we wanted from the menu since the kid did not get what exactly we want. But after several attempts we were able to order what we want.
And then when we wanted to order drinks the kid told us to come to the counter since according to the restaurant rules we can not order drinks at the table.
We accepted and ordered the drinks at the counter.
Hospitality and Customer Service.
I have orders a Fanta 300 ml bottle and usually I do not check the expire dates here in Australia since every restaurant care about the quality of food and drinks they serve.
It was my mistake, and after 3/4 done of the bottle I saw some sediments in the bottle and immediately checked the expire date and it was SEP 2017.
Then I saw few kids drinking Fanta in next table so I had a chat with their parents and asked them to check the expire dates of those tables fortunately those were ok.
Then we stop drinking the drink and when we leave the restaurant I show the bottle to the person in the counter and ask him to remove any bottles from the same batch.
Usually this kind of things are mistakes but expired drinks can be toxic to human body and can be fatal and this person (I think he is the owner of the restaurant) did not even apologies for the mistake instead he said
"Mistakes happen , I can pay you money back"
I was totally disappointed to hear that , and tried to explain him it is not about money and it is about customer - service relationship and as a service provider he has an obligation to sell quality food and drinks.
He was so arrogant and did not seems to understand his responsibility as a service provider.
Hence we left the place without discussing it further. But all of you out there
Do not expect good hospitality from...
Read moreThis has to be the best takeaway meal I’ve had in a few years. The chilli chicken was delicious it was cooked in a fresh oyster and fish sauce topped off with soy, sugar and also included fresh garlic, fresh chilli, mushrooms, onions and capsicums. The best thing being it was also Gluten Free. My husband went for the BBQ chicken in a brandy sauce, his was a little too dry for me but he enjoyed it with his only complaint being it was on the bone (he hates bones in chicken). The coconut rice was amazing in fact we may go back just for another rice. You could choose to eat in or takeaway we opted to take back to the room as we had had a long drive. We will most certainly return when we are next passing. Oops nearly forgot to mention the customer service was 101% very polite...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant is eat-in or takeaway. "Yim-Thai" offers a simple no-frills service. Thai style decor and very amiable staff. We were not rushed. There was a fun small girl (possibly Alison) putting water on tables. Seating for about 10 tables people, though there were only 4 when we ate. Popular and traditional menu options. This establishment is both licensed and non-alcoholic drinks are available. We ate a creamy Penang curry with chicken as the meat component. The chicken slivers were a little chewy, but the curry sauce was a delight. And Soya Hokkien Noodles with special Yim Thai sauce also very tasty. I tried the regionally brewed Yenda pale-ale, quite refreshing it was. It is nice to find Thai food in this fine old...
