德記茶居 Dim Sum Delight — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Worst dining experience. Mother's Day, waited over an hour after arrival to finally get the spring roll entree for my daughter that they had to be reminded 3 times about. Watched one of the waitresses aimlessly walk up to every table with food they didn't order (including also then dropping out daughter's spring rolls on another table despite them stating multiple times they weren't theirs). Take away orders were streaming out the door while the dine in customers were all left waiting. After the multiple prompts, our "banquet" finally started about 1 hour 15 mins after arrival. We received the entree and corn soup and then nothing else came as we had disappointedly kind of suspected would be the case by then. Asked again and found out they hadn't started the rest yet because the chef / lady at counter has forgotten. Went to pay instead of bothering to wait any longer, and they are so miserly, that instead of accepting how poorly they served us tonight and at least trying to offer some kind of discount, the lady robotically broke the banquet down to the portions we received and charged us every penny. Hidden gem according to Google reviews. It should stay hidden, unless you order takeaway because apparently then it seems they actually come through...

DISAPPOINTED EXPERIENCE

Drove all the way from Brisbane to Gold Coast to try this yum cha restaurant as we heard from others saying they are going to closed down the restaurant.

We came here on a Sunday morning. Pre-booked prior. The service was really messy. They won’t accept ordering from the menu. Waiter was taking the food tray asking each table one by one whether they want this food or not. Can imagine this practice is unhygienic and the food can be cold serving this way.

The seating was really uncomfortable as the dim sum trolley was passing between tables in a really small confined spaces and the trolley had hit the back of my seat for multiple times.

Food taste average. Salted egg yolk custard bun and beef tripe was tasty but other food was very average.

Bill for two people with eight dim sum was about $90, cost was slightly higher than other...

Extremely terrible customer service. Made a reservation and when I turned up the rude waitress who was in the middle of service at a table exclaimed - yes?? Can I help you? I said I have a reservation for 3 people and she just looked at me with confusion. Stopped what she was doing and checked the booking - no, there is no reservation for you. I said sorry - is this your phone number - she said no. So I asked her is there any availability thinking I’m obviously confused - she said no.

I called on leaving the restaurant and the exact same restaurant answered and I asked what the problem was.

The then rude waitress in a sing song voice that I can sit outside. Sorry - not anymore!!! Wouldn’t dine there if you paid me.

I have never ever experienced such rudeness in my entire life!?
