Currumbin RSL — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I dined at Alleys restaurant on Friday evening. It is has become my regular "go to place." On Friday I had the roast of the day, in this case pork. I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay as did my friend. She had the roast vegetables and they were delicious.

Everything arrived after about a 5 minute wait. The pork was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were well cooked and tasty. I find that with some restaurants that the vegetables are almost raw. Not with Alleys. They are always well cooked but not over cooked. Our drinks arrived well chilled. We also asked for filtered water and that arrived promptly. A carafe and two glasses.

The staff at Alleys are always courteous and well mannered. I am greeted by name, and at some stage throughout the meal someone always comes and asked was everything OK. They also ask if there is anything else they can help with. I find this approach to be both courteous and professional. I guess that it why I dine there at least twice or three times a week.

Alleys is also very good value. The meals and the drink was $68.00 Seriously, I could not make it at home for less than that and no dishes to do.

Special mention should be made for Karen. She is so welcoming, professional and greets you by name The waitress, I do forget her name was charming, courteous and professional.

I recommend Alleys for any occasion that requires good food and service, at very reasonable prices, together with attentive and professional staff.

I shall be there again on Thursday evening. It is steak night. Their butcher definitely knows his stuff. As I said it has become my "Go To Place".

Went here after a long day of work on a Saturday night with family and friends. As always, everyone finds themselves being late, later and latest. Luckily though, we arrive just before the kitchen closes to squeeze in our orders. I’m surprised that the food took, dare I say, less than 10 minutes to appear on the table. Having not eaten in 48 hours, I dig in with not a spoonful to spare or share. I refuse to make eye contact with anyone else at the table I’m so locked in; the moment is about me and the food. It is quite literally my expectations met to an uncanny tee. The portions are small to give off the idea of luxury boutique food when it’s clearly more tavern food, but it’s tasty enough that in the moment you’re satisfied. But that’s all I can say about Currumbin RSL, it was a momentary pleasure, lacking anything special about the food for me to want to return. After a meal, I want to be able to tell my friends about how good it was, I want to be able to gossip about it to my coworkers, I want to post the photos, but I simply can’t here. It walks the all too dangerous fine line between being frivolous and tasty, in all its contemporary mediocrity. The venue was rather nice, and I can see how it elevates the reputation of RSLs being exclusively for ‘older’ people. But what I came for was food, and it felt more like a sidelined snack, or a background show to the live music and various going-ons at the venue. For the price it was, I see no reason to come back, and then again, no reason to not come...

On walking into the RSL I decided to join as a member, was given the form and asked to move so others could be served as I arrived at lunch time and very busy at front desk. When I filled out my form I got in line to join and when it was my turn to be served the staff member said to me to come back later as they are too busy, so I asked so your too busy to serve me as I am a customer as well and walked away.

Now you would think that is a negative thing and it very well could of been but as I was ordering my lunch the same staff member ( I wish I got her name ) came up to me with my member card, wavered the join fee and set a pin for me. She apologised for my wait and was extremely helpful. To me this is what customer service is all about and she is the best of the best. Two days later we returned and the same staff member greeted us with a smile and a hello

We had lunch again and the meals are of good value and quality, I had calamari and my husband king fish. The atmosphere was relaxing over looking the water, there are many areas of seating to choose from.

The venue itself appears to have a lot on for their members, and although I was only there during the day was playing the pokies and was selected to spin the wheel to win money , so had lots of fun. Cant wait for my next visit to Palm...
