Parking is extremely difficult.
Brunch time on Thursday.
I struggle to see how this is restaurant as no table service. I was so disappointed as I took myself out for a treat and it says restaurant on their website. I wanted to graze and have my plates taken and asked if I wanted anything else. Which I did I wanted to take way a pastry. I couldn’t be bothered after eating to go back to the counter. No one asked me how the food was.
If you are a normal healthy eater I would recommend sharing a plate as there is no way a lady could eat the huge meals alone. Waste of money and food. I couldn’t share as I was eating alone.
The food was tasty and menu interesting. Just need portion control.
You have to order and pay at the counter. I was so disappointed by this. I thought it was a Resturant. It looks great and I had to wait to be seated. Then the waitress said order at the counter and I never got asked any questions or told I can buy to take away from patisserie.
So I went to the counter and ordered and they asked me to pay.So I went back to my table and got my wallet. I was actually confused as I giggled it before driving half hour.
The coffee was exceptional! 😃
I was disappointed with the size of the meal. What a waste of food! It was absolutely enormous. Cook must have used 4-5 eggs into the miso scramble. Or just had a massive pot pre cooked and used a huge spoon! I was full after a quarter because the bread was really thick and there was also cheese and some kind of oil on the scrambled eggs. I am not on a high protein body building diet! Owner should look at demographics noted below and offer small portions.
There was 15-20 people in the cafe and I didn’t see one man. Many in gym gear didn’t bother to dress up as they obviously know it’s a cafe.
Why not do table service? It’s almost a restaurant anyway.
$18 for Avo on toast?? When it’s not a restaurant is ridiculous. No one wants to eat an entire Avacado either. Happy to pay $12 and have a spread of avo on piece of toast with a $5 coffee. Then sit and chat and possibly go another coffee if the waitress took plates and asked if we needed anything else? Would you like to take a pastry home with you? So many possibilities with table service to move tables out and get more sales through up selling pastries after the fishers are collected.
Too hard to park for a quick coffee and pastry.
The location is the drawcard.
The cafe next door was packed. It is cheaper and exact same view.
I will go...
Read moreDisappointing Experience on My Wedding Day
I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the experience I had at your establishment during such an important event as my wedding. While the food quality was exceptional and the presentation impeccable, unfortunately, the service provided by your staff left much to be desired.
The root of my discontent lies in the handling of the reservation for a group of 15 people. A day in advance, I made the request via email, receiving a positive response indicating an exception for a reservation beyond the usual maximum capacity of 12 people. This message instilled confidence and positive expectations for my celebration at your establishment.
However, upon arriving at the restaurant, I encountered an unpleasant situation that marked the beginning of a disappointing experience. Inquiring about my reservation for 15 people, I noticed there was only space for 10 diners. My inquiry to the person in charge, presumably the on-duty manager, was met with rudeness and arrogance.
The manager, a blonde individual with fair skin and an Australian accent, responded disdainfully, stating that reservations for more than 12 people are not accepted. Despite explaining that my reservation had been confirmed via email with an exception granted, the response was in a rude and condescending tone. According to her, she had not received any request and incorrectly assumed I had made the reservation on the same day.
Faced with the situation, I provided the confirmation email as evidence. Although the manager attempted to rectify the situation at that moment, the damage was already done. The initial tone and attitude left a negative impression that affected my perspective and enjoyment of my wedding day.
The decision to celebrate this special day at your restaurant was influenced by pleasant moments shared with my wife at your other establishment in Burleigh Heads. Unfortunately, the current experience has tarnished that positive image.
I hope you take this complaint into consideration to improve your service practices and ensure that future customers do not encounter similar situations. A day that should have been memorable was overshadowed by this...
Read moreToday was an awful experience. We live locally, down the road, and I bring my 85 yo auntie every week at 2:15 (they close at 3pm so they are not busy) and we have a weekly catch up. We were greeted with telling us to come back to the ‘be seated’ sign so we can be put in the system and seated. I said we come in and sit every week, the reply was ‘this is our system, is there a problem?! As I stood there staring at a sea of empty tables I didn’t know what to say. So I just said ‘you close at 3 so we usually sit so you can take our order; she looked flustered and said ‘I’m going to get my manager’ and off she huffed! Her senior came out, I explained, we are regulars, we are locals, and we always come in and sit down at this time because theres no queue and you close at 3. She repeated, (without any respect or courtesy for us being regular weekly customers (and I also come with other friends at other times)), pointing to the seating sign, we do need to seat you, is there a problem? I said, I don’t like being spoken to like this when I’m coming in for a cup of tea.
(But what I was thinking was - Yes - the problem is rudeness and a lack of common courtesy and general understanding of the circumstances!)
She then got the manager - who said she was new and has probably told them to always seat customers. I explained, service has declined, friendliness is non existent and smiles, forget it, and we should have been greeted as regulars and not with such harshness.
We were not offered any overwhelming courtesy and chose to leave. We are not returning. After that, even with that beautiful view, Tarte was the last place we wanted to drink our tea.
So unfortunately Tarte has gone from 5 stars to 1 star.
This is an update as I couldn’t write a 2nd review. Please bring back this type of lovely service. We miss it! We still come every week but we all agree it’s not the same style of service. Please train your staff to smile and be friendly. It’s not hard.
I just wanted to compliment Liv and Lucia with their welcoming smiles, chat and service. I have always loved this spot in Currumbin and so happy to see Tarte is operating in tune with our beautiful...
