Tonight was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I'll get to that in a minute. When we arrived for a goodbye party for a friend, I asked the waiter if we could place our order as I had been fasting all day and didn't want to delay. Although the place was still practically empty it took 30 mins for them to finally come take our order. My daughter has anaphylaxis to cashews so I asked if the butter chicken had cashew, they said yes. So we ordered the tandoori chicken instead. I made it very clear to them that if my daughter eats cashew she could die. They confirmed the tandoori chicken does not have cashew. We all ordered mango lassi and everyone placed their order. They only bought half the mango lassi and even we asked them to bring the rest they bought one at a time about 10 minutes in-between each. Finally they bought the dishes except they also bought the butter chicken which we explained we never ended up ordering. They completely forgot one of the orders which was also a tandoori chicken. My daughter's tandoori chicken was white. Never seen a white tandoori chicken but whatever. After 15 minutes they brought the other tandoori chicken which was red. I asked why they were different colours and they said the white one has cashew! I couldn't believe it. After all that they gave my daughter cashew? The manager was very nonchalant about the whole thing and was trying to make some excuse that the second one was meant for my daughter since we changed from the butter chicken. I screamed at my daughter to stop eating. I was beside myself, crying and panicking that my daughter was going to have an anaphylactic reaction. My daughter was panicking as well waiting for the reaction to start. All we could do was pray. The manager didn't even seem to care only trying to make excuses. After about 15 mins of this ordeal he came back and said that the chicken never had cashew after all. Why on earth did it take him so long to check? He was walking around calmly checking in with other customers and completely ignoring us. Why didn't he run in and check with the chef immediately? 15 minutes of panic could completely have been avoided. Shameful! What was meant to be a pleasant evening ended up being a nightmare thanks to the incompetence of everyone who works at this restaurant. The manager and the two incompetent servers. Never will we come back again. In fact put off Indian food for life. Edit: it's been over a week now since my review and the fact that this restaurant has not reached out to apologise for the grief they caused us speaks volumes for the type of people they...
Read moreVisited this restaurant based on the reviews as I was looking for a nice date night restaurant and this was perfect! I love that it’s in the most unassuming spot (located amongst a shopping complex with Cole’s etc) and just on the corner with plenty of parking options - no fuss, so easy!
They have a great online booking system and upon entering the place the ambience is warm and inviting. Dim lights, nice classy decor but also giving a casual feel.
We ordered a few starters - the Samoas were honestly out of this world! Probably the best I’ve tasted in my opinion. We also ordered these spring roll looking things (soz forgot what it was called) as it was a chefs special starter and they were also delicious (we ordered it upon recommendation).
For the mains we ordered the mango chicken (hot) the Goat curry (mild), coconut rice, a mix of garlic/garlic & cheese naan bread, some Poppadoms. My husband absolutely loved his mango chicken. He loves Indian cuisine more than me and was highly impressed. The Goat curry paired well with the coconut rice for me and I was happy to get a take home since we had some leftover. And while I did enjoy it at the restaurant, the next day it tasted even better 😆It went from an 7 to a 10 for me.
The Poppadoms however were a bit too fancy for me though (I prefer the basic normal one - not fancy seeded ones) and they were not as crunchy as I prefer. But I did enjoy the naan bread 🤤I also tried the Lychee Martini cocktail and it was delish!
I love that this is also family/child friendly and the service was excellent. It’s not cheap but I would definitely come back for another special occasion with my family.
Great for date nights, groups of friends, families and special occasions that you want to keep...
Read moreOh my goodness. What a beautiful experience. We thought to get takeaway for the evening but then changed our minds to dine in, and are so glad we did.
There is a palpable warm, positive energy at this place, from the kind and attentive service delivered with gentle genuine smiles, to the happy sounds of family and friends truly enjoying their food.
It's rare to have a dining experience that feels elevating, but that's exactly what this was. The chef's intentions are described on the website as producing alluring flavours and taking you on a sensory journey, and we agree. We have both left feeling so happy, it felt almost like a spiritual experience to taste such lovely subtle flavours, some of which were like a little joyful unexpected mystery (you must try the pistachio icecream!) and to feel truly nourished by the high quality produce and loving care put in by the chefs.
The decor is beautiful and takes you away from the ordinary world. We highly recommend the barramundi tikka entree and the chicken tikka masala with the best hot buttery garlic naan ever.
Our family is going through a lot right now, and our experience at Ginger tonight has brought happiness to our hearts and spirits, and reminded us of the true joy of food.
Thank you and...
