Highland Park Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

A frightening place to visit if you want to NOT be killed, mugged, beaten, assaulted or robbed. Over the years there has been stabbings, glassings, brawls and robberies galore, and now today a shooting death and massive incident right in front of the kindy and in front of all the parents and school kids during school drop off time. This place seems to attract the worst of society and the lowest scumbags. Actually went there with family a few months ago for dinner, thought we'd 'try it' after a promotion of theirs offered a deal. Just sickening, nobody to serve us when we entered, just a few drunks stammering around from the pokie lounge - we went in and the toxic smell of cheap paint was almost overbearing, there were no staff in sight, and the smell from the kitchen was very unappetising to say the least. After what seemed an eternity, a cook walked past the servery window, he was covered in grease, he looked up at us with what was almost a grunt, and then looked down and continued on his way as if we were ghosts. For service they get zero stars, can't say about the food because we stormed out in disgust but by the smell I'd give it a generous 1, the prices were moderate to very high considering, 1 star there, the decor and atmosphere was foul, the smells were something unworldly, the fellow customers were scary and quite frankly I began to fear for my life given the known history of the establishment. Glad we got the hell out of there. I will never, ever take my family, let alone myself to this...

Unfortunately the improvements we saw, after Siromet Wineries took over, have all but disappeared. The food is very ordinary again, we've had a disgusting piece of gristle sold as a T-Bone there, along with an inedible Barramundi ruined by a layer of fatty batter, in the past few weeks. The price of both drinks and food has risen, particularly the food, which is verging on restaurant prices (this is a corner pub guys). Also, they've still made little attempt to brighten the place up, though this is a much longer...

I like it there!! 2 times I have eaten there i always get given garlic sauce as its not on menu but they were lovely enough to whip me up one as i don't eat any other sauce. I eat there regularly now but last night a new guy or someone couldn't make it. I was a bit sad. I like it there YES it is just a corner pub but I like it they are a lovely helpful bunch of people and its not overly pack. My T-bone steak is always cooked to perfection and...
