Highland Court Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I have been ordering takeaway from here for years now but on Saturday night we decided to dine-in. Definitely not as good as I'd had in the past. Two of us booked online and when we arrived at 7:30pm for our table the girl at the counter told us she'd have to see if they could still seat us. The restaurant was empty and they didn't close until 9pm! We ordered spring rolls, honey chicken, a beef dish and fried rice. The honey chicken came out first without the rice and it tasted like it had been double deep-fried. The batter was so hard I could barely get through to the chicken. ten minutes later the rice came out and by then the honey chicken was basically cold. The sizzling beef came out hot thankfully which we ate as quickly as possible. After we'd nearly finished my friend mentioned to the waitress that we also ordered spring rolls. The waitress said she'd go and 'check' and came back saying it was not written down and did we still want it. I would have said no but my friend said yes and so we ate our entree last. I noticed that two plates of food were put down at another table and ten minutes later a couple came in. The lady made a comment about the food already being at the table and the waitress said that the food shouldn't be "too cold". Personally I would have asked for fresh food or left. I won't be in a hurry to buy...

Ordered dine in.. Arrived and they had set up takeaway instead. They told us to take a seat and they would prepare fresh plate. Plate arrived and it looked like new rice had been added and container food dumped on top of this on the plate. 3/4 rice barely 1/4 Chicken... There was a weird whiff when they originally put plate on table but we put it down to error on our part. Unfortunately when we got to middle of rice there was an off taste and smell to fried rice. Looks like they weren't happy with having us stay to eat instead of taking takeaway.. They put old rancid/sour fried rice and then dumped the new one on top.. Had to leave 1/3 of plate couldn't eat rest as now that old one was uncovered it smelt and tasted off. We had fried rice and satay chicken, not only will we not be promoting at workplace... We will definitely NOT be returning!!!! Let waitress know... Hope she passed message on to...

As a local we have been attending this restaurant for 14 years and it has previously at least three years ago delivered top quality fresh chinese, what is happening now is just pure disdain or contempt for its customers. Food now is not fresh its's cheaply sourced and meagre servings of tasteless vegetables. Do you think we do not notice?, or clearly you just do not care. Tonight l ordered chinese green vegetables and l received a container of white stalks that l myself would put in the compost bin or throw out. I took a photo on my phone and ipad and tried to proceed with my review but l was unable to upload. I will keep trying, you may be busy now but people are realising this is not just a one off, bad night, this is how this restaurant serves its food now... with no...
