Visited this restaurant after looking at the reviews and ordered a family feast for a group of 5. We originally opted to dine in. But the ambience and atmosphere was very hostile and the staff didn’t seem to care about the presence of customers. There was no air conditioning and windows were shut that led to a stuffed, pungent, overpowering smell in dining area and we very soon regretted ordering the food here as the restaurant was not clean either. We decided to take away the food.
We hoped that the food would be better atleast. But we were given heavy masala mixed/fried rice in the name of Biriyani and meat was not freshly cooked. Curries were below average in terms of quality, quantity as well. Naan/roti was the only face saver. Now I had visited excellent Indian restaurants in and around Queensland, NSW. But I sincerely regret visiting this place and highly discourage anyone wanting to try authentic Indian food here. Overall it was worst experience.
*Regarding owner’s reviews - The reaction I received from management says a lot about how they handle feedback. I wanted to add a few more points here ..
Service bias: We were not greeted or attended to by the staff. We had to walk up to the counter ourselves to get the menu and place the order, while we noticed few other customers being welcomed and served at their tables. This stark difference in treatment gave an uncomfortable impression of bias—possibly racial—which should have no place in any hospitality setting. Unhygienic environment: Shortly after we arrived, my daughter began feeling unwell due to a strong, unpleasant kitchen smell that lingered in the dining area. Instead of acknowledging or addressing this concern, the owner responded by saying that I can get a 7 star service elsewhere - a statement that felt completely out of touch with the issue raised. Lack of basic amenities: When we asked about a restroom or a place to wash our hands, we were told that facilities were unavailable due to theft of taps. This explanation felt suspicious and unacceptable, especially for a food establishment, where hygiene and customer comfort should be basic priorities.
More disappointing than the experience itself was the owner’s refusal to listen, empathize, or take responsibility. Instead of using the feedback to improve, their response was to discredit the customer and avoid...
Read moreI came to know few details while waiting for my ordered to be prepared. It was taken over couple of months back by new management. They added parathas, indian street item and thali options to old menu. I ordered from the newly added menu. I had aloo parathas, paneer parathas and tea. Be mindful that food is prepared after order so it takes time but it’s totally fresh. The taste was authentic with mango pickle. Parathas served with curd and butter also. It’s a bit far but all that extra travel effort was worth for tasty food. Recommended to everyone without any doubts. Will visit again if in Gold Coast.
During my 2nd visit to GC in Aug 2024 had veg thali and food was tasty. Roti’s came with ghee. For curries in thali had palak paneer and dal makhani. Flavours in both was perfect only not up to the mark was daal makhani as it was not thick as it should...
Read moreFound this place through google while driving. Might not have visited if I would have had a look at the pics of the place beforehand. That would have been a mistake. After being on the road for almost a week, was needing something Indian without extra cream and spices. This place turned out to be exactly that. Everything was almost like the food we cook at home. Paranthas were awesome. Everything priced affordable. 2 of us had a dinner for under $40. Ambience is something that they can work on but it looked like most of their customers are take away only. To all the non Indians- this is the real Indian...
