Norfolk Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

My family and I decided to give ormeau tavern another go, and I am so glad we did because the new Menu is amazing!! They have added on so much more, pork bites, karaage chicken and also added more mains and changed up the desserts. The portion sizes are decent and the pork belly bites were huge!! Unfortunately I didn't think of capturing a photo until we were half way through our meal, however I would highly recommend checking it out for yourself. Amazing change around Norfolk tavern🙌🏼

We have been regulars at the Norfolk Tavern for the past few years. Its in a great location and caters well to families with young children. It has park and kids room to keep them entertained. The staff have always been amazing and we love the service, however we have noticed the huge change with the food. Norfolk for us has always been known for its extensive menu, variety and decent serving size for the money that you pay. I feel like the last year, since the menu change these qualities are no where to be seen. We attended tonight, to have no chicken wellingtons, no beef pie, and we also couldn't order any garlic bread due to the toaster being broken.(or something along those lines) I ordered a $20 + Thai beef salad that looked like a $12 salad and the options felt very limited. It's sad to see as the staff are amazing and always go above and beyond however the food quality is a let down. Unfortunately we decided after tonight, we wont be back...

I can’t fault the food. The two guys who served us were great. But the service we got from the two ladies was pretty poor. Firstly the lady behind the counter didn’t try to get 2 extra chairs for our table. We needed two extra chairs for our friends. So we had to sit at 2 separate tables away from our friends. The tables weren't together. We could see tables close by that were empty. Why couldn’t they move our tables next to them. Or move us near. She said it’s either that or sit outside in the heat. So we ended up sitting away from each other to have our lunch.

Secondly. A few minutes after that I went to purchase a drink. I stood at the bar waiting behind a couple standing in line. After 2 lots of customers were served drinks, both Ladies walked away from the bar. Like I wasn’t even there. The Lady that couldn’t organise us our seating walked away, told the other lady to come back and serve me. Even though they were both standing at the bar together. Why did they both walk away in the first place. She comes back and asks me if I need anything. I said I would like a drink.

We still enjoyed our food. The guys who bought our food were very good and kind. We couldn’t fault them. They probably made up for the negative experience we had.

We have had many birthdays over that last 5 years or so. Christmas celebrations with friends and family. Even had my sons Wake there, Unfortunately today. Has tainted the good times we have had...

I love it when a question is answered with another question, even more when it has the intent to belittle and alienate. Well done little blonde boy working the food counter on Friday night. You succeeded.

When I asked if the kitchen was still open he asked what the time was ... Then stood and stared at me as I realised he wasn't actually going to help but wanted me to pull my phone from my pocket and tell HIM the time .. maybe he doesn't understand that he is the one getting paid from this transaction, so I told him it was 830 and he said well the kitchens open till 9 so there's your answer

I really should have taken this rude service as a reason to not give this venue my money but after a 12 hour shift I was tired and hungry

He asked what table number I would be on, I couldn't see any table numbers so I told him which table by the door I would be on ... He said it would be ready in 10 minutes... I threw some money and came back pretty quickly

I waited at my table for at least another 10-15 minutes and when my food still hadn't come ii noticed there was a single plate waiting under the warmer

It turned out it was my food ... I had to ask for it ... And it wasn't very impressive either .. $26 parmy should have some sort of wow factor ... There was none and it was small

Needless to say I won't...
