Extremely Disappointed – Poor Quality Food & Rude Service
I visited the Seaway kiosk twice within the past week, giving it a second chance after a disappointing first experience. Unfortunately, the second visit only confirmed that this place is not worth the time or money.
On our first visit, I ordered a pizza and my son had the kids' fish bites and chips. The pizza was tiny, soggy, and completely lacking in flavour — like something hastily defrosted and thrown together. My son’s fish bites were even worse. They gave off a strong, unpleasant fishy smell, clearly not fresh, and definitely not something you’d feel comfortable serving to a child. The chips were soft, undercooked, and bland. Despite the poor food, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again later in the week. That was a mistake.
On the second visit, I ordered a schnitzel burger, expecting something decently sized and freshly made. What I got instead was shockingly small — it looked and tasted like a couple of slimy chicken nuggets on a basic bun. It was disappointing in both size and quality. To make matters worse, the burger didn’t come with chips, which I had to pay an extra $11.50 for. That’s incredibly overpriced for a side portion, especially considering the underwhelming food.
We also ordered a kids’ “double cheese” burger meal, which turned out to be a single small patty with two slices of cheese. When I questioned the price, I was told the meal doesn’t come with chips — another $5 if we wanted those included. So in total, we paid $18.50 for a kids’ burger and chips, which is more than I’ve paid for full adult meals at better venues.
When the food was brought out, we were asked if we wanted sauce. We requested aioli, only to be told it was the only sauce that isn’t free — and if we wanted it, we’d need to go back to the counter and pay extra. That felt like the final insult after everything else. With the prices they’re charging, the least they could do is offer a sauce without the hassle.
The service was just as disappointing as the food. The woman who served us seemed miserable and uninterested in being helpful or polite. At one point, she actually leaned on our baby’s pram while our baby was asleep. There was no awareness or apology — just a complete lack of consideration. It was uncomfortable and frankly unacceptable.
Overall, Seaway kiosk has been a major letdown. The food is overpriced and poorly prepared, the service is cold and unprofessional, and everything seems designed to squeeze a few extra dollars out of the customer. There are much better places in the area offering better quality, better value, and a much more respectful experience. We won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreMe and my family (husband, toddler and Baby) went for a walk at the spit and decided to head over to the cafe for lunch.
We weren't sure if we would be able to dine in and as we approached the main entrance it was quite busy.
To do the right thing, hubby went and asked if we could be seated before we ordered as we have two little ones. We also wanted to keep a distance from everyone else crowded at the front...you know... social distancing...
Hubby went and asked a guy behind the counter and he said it was fine for us to do so. Hubby came and got us and as we walked by, hubby said thank you to the staff member.
There were plenty of seats free and we stayed away from the table that had a reservation sign.
Upon sitting down to a free table with no reservation sign, a woman jumped out from behind the kitchen counter and said we can't sit there because it's 'just' been reserved by this other couple. And the great part is....drum roll... they didn't even want to sit there!
We explained how we had asked and that the other table had the reservation sign and this one didn't. The woman had zero customer service skills and showed no compassion for us trying to do the right thing. It is not easy with two little ones and a small crowded entrance - and with a stroller. I also suffer from anxiety and being in such environments only makes me feel claustrophobic. We were trying to do the right thing by asking before we even entered the place (me and the kids stated outside when hubby asked).
I was going to move tables, but we decided they didn't deserve our business. We would have spent about $60-80....and so they lost out. Their food isn't that amazing anyway and we rarely go there...so they have now just lost out on any future business from us.
You would think that they would want the business during these times. As I say there were plenty of seats/tables...it's not like they were booming (most people were doing take-away)
I don't know if she is just rude, or if she was judging us by how we look (tattoos, shaved hair and I don't think people realise how old we are).
I hope she has a nice day anyway...and for those reading this, there are plenty of other places to go get a tasty bite...dont waste your time or...
