Shearers Arms Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Great service and food!

We booked a table for 20 people for our work Christmas party, for a Friday night. The pub was busy (as expected any Friday night), including another Christmas party, but the staff still gave us great attention and assistance through the night. I was especially pleased by the excellent customer service from Anna, Sarah, Amy and Lauren who always did it with a smile. Anna especially handled our booking and even though there was a slight mistake with our table setting, she got us sorted and made sure we were happy. Anna is a gem - give her a promotion :)

The meals came out pretty quickly, tasted amazing and were a reasonable price. Anna and Sarah were great behind the bar, set up our bar tab and took our 20 orders super quickly. Thanks for the great service by your amazing team on the night. We'll be back for next years party too!

The only down sides were the rude restaurant manager (female, didn't catch her name) on the morning of our dinner, when I called ahead to update final numbers. She was very abrupt and I really didn't appreciate her tone. It would have also been great to have had a waitress come to write our order for the 20 people, but the rude restaurant manager told me that they don't do it anymore because too many people run out on their bills.

So mostly great experience besides the one...

I had dinner here on the 5th of October. Friday night which i was rather surprised was not too busy. Kilpatrick Oysters amazing. Bruschetta wasn't a fan was more soggy bread which wasn't pleasant. Entrees came out in good time, But was let down when my child had to wait 40 minutes for nuggets and chips. Yet entrees were roughly 20 mins. Despite the request made of children meal with entrees. I had schnitzel and mash with salad for my main. Mushroom sauce wasn't amazing and my mashed potato was cold. Then the Staff...... Well! Standing at the bar waiting for some time with staff walking past and standing watching yet no service. I understand areas etc as i manage a pub. Staff don't speak to you on approaching the table and its rather awkward. Manners wouldn't go far. Generally clean and not dirty... Sadly the table we had been seated next to were foul mouthed and couldn't stop cussing despite my young son literally being right behind them. Unfortunately probably just classless people who can have conservations of that type in public.

I live local and have been going to the shearer’s arms since 2008, food, service and the atmosphere was always top notch, such a great place, 5 stars always but in the last few years it has gone from a 5 to a 1 unfortunately…. Stopped eating there a couple years ago, always a problem with the meals, went there today with family and was served by a rude young lady, not welcoming at all, basically threw the menus on the table and left as if she was very busy but we were one of 4-5 occupied tables in the whole place, didn’t ask if we’d like drinks, just left to talk with her friend at the bar…came back, took our orders, still no offering for drinks or extras… had to go to the bar and order myself…. Food came out, I’d ordered a 300g medium rare which about 15mm thick and was brown all the way through(well done) and would’ve been lucky to weigh 200g if that and came with about 15 chips…. Probably should’ve questioned the meals again…but after the last couple of times having lunch there it just reminded me why I don’t come here at all anymore…..unfortunately food and serivce is worse than ever…not...
