Yellow Chilly Ormeau — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Got a large family pack last night and was very impressed. I needed to stay away from some more challenging options and so opted for a mango chicken and chicken tikka, garlic and cheese naan and peshwari (fruit and nut naan). Opted for the vegetable pakoras for the entree and Gulab Jamin for the desert.

While the curries weren't going to knock your socks off with flavour, the dishes I chose were perfectly balanced as "safer" options and were definitely pleasing for everyone. They were a step up from the last time we Gills, but that experience was a let down from before - so they might have been having an off night.

The naans were good although the peshwari might have had a bit too much sugar in it and the caramelisation hardened it somewhat, but all got eaten and was not a disappointment.

We got some bonus chutney, raita and pappadums thrown in too which was a delightful touch.

All in all a very good experience, portion sizes were more than adequate, service friendly and fast (we were in before the dinner rush though).

We placed an order on UberEats with a delivery window an hour after we placed the order… ten minutes after the end of the delivery window as I sat keeping an eye out for the driver the shop called. Essentially to say they are only now just starting to cook our order AND that they have NO drivers and would we be able to come and collect! We attempted to explain that we ordered a delivery so we wouldn’t have to pick up and questioned why now after it was already passed the delivery window they hadn’t called to explain there was a delay and that they couldn’t actually deliver despite making the restaurant available on UberEats for delivery . He here seemed flustered… and with no resolution to the situation (we paid for a meal and now hour and twenty minutes later still had nothing) claimed he had to go and would call us back ….we still have yet to receive his call and as such had the pleasure of then having to deal with UberEats to cancel the order and secure a refund. … poor form from yellow chilly. We have now ordered from Yellow Chilly a couple of times and can safely state that the food is incredible. Take your tastebuds on a journey and have a proper meal that actually tastes authentic and is packed with flavour. This is not pre-made fast food.

Everything is made fresh to order in front of you so it takes a little longer than fast food, but it is so worth the wait which was about 30 minutes. Order ahead or use a delivery service if you want to save time.

Chatting to the staff we found out that they also offer a dine-in option on the patio which we will try in future.
