I went for dinner with my partner at Thai Ashmore last Saturday evening. I have traveled to many destinations in the world and I soon came to realise the best and most affordable restaurants can be found off the beaten track . Thai Ashmore is no exception. Nestled between a butcher to the left, and a large steak restaurant to the right is this inconspicuous little restaurant with three tables outside and a large take-away counter inside, the friendly owner called “B” behind the counter in front of his stoves. The setup is most unpretentiously lit with bright neon lights...and on the shopfront are the most innocent letters: BYO. That swayed us.
We sat down, opened a bottle of white and struck up conversations with passers-by. This was most unusual and great fun. The merrymaking was stopped in it's tracks when the Money Bags arrived - these Money Bags taste like a million Dollars. Followed by the best seafood Tom Yum that I have had in years - overflowing with the freshest mussels, scallops and prawns. Created on the spot, done in a Thai tradition rarely found in the hum-drum fancy-wanzy exxy places. Imagine, your own privet, fascinating patrons to talk to as the evening rolls on.
Not being able to stop being impressed, our Uber driver got the rest of the...

They Still have Great Quality Food & the Lunch Specials.
Had the Pad Keemow with Pork. The Taste and Presentation were Very Good.
Previous Review: When at Ashmore Road.
Putting Out Some Awesome Quality Food, From This Modestly Sized Restaurant.
Located Just Next to Ashmore Road Seafood & Steak Restaurant.
Open 7 Nights for Dinner between 4-9 pm & Lunch Wed-Sunday 11.30 am till 2.30 pm. Has Plenty of Parking.
Had the Pad Se Ew with Duck. The Dish Was Superb, The Duck - Sublime !! Very Friendly Service. Would Strongly Suggest Making a Reservation for Friday & Saturday Dinner, As Seating Is Limited.
The Reason Thai Ashmore Doesn’t Get 5 Stars, Is This Brilliant Food was Served in a Flimsy Plastic Bowl & I Was Provided With Plastic Forks to Eat With !! YES, I DID Answer I Would be “Eating In” When Asked When Ordering. It’s Just a Bit Weird !!
That Aside I Do Thoroughly Recommend Giving Thai Ashmore a Try, (maybe bring Your Own Plates, Bowls & Cutlery !! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻)
Have just recently returned and had a Pork Green Curry & Rice Lunch Special.
Very Good Presentation and...
Read moreThai Ashmore is a delightful spot tucked away in the heart of Ashmore. From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a great dining experience.
The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Thai dishes. For the main course, the Pad Thai was a standout, perfectly balanced flavorrs and generous portions but the honey chicken sauce wasn't my favourtie. The curries were also a hit, with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting.
Service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The staff were attentive but sounded abrupt when taking to me.
The restaurant's location on Cotlew Street makes it easily accessible and there's ample parking available.
Overall, Thai Ashmore offers authentic Thai cuisine in a comfortable setting. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's worth stopping by for a satisfying meal if you choose the right dishes.
