Wow! A faultless breakfast experience. The food, the pleasantness of the staff, the cleanliness, the timeliness, even the back ground music, first rate. The food overall has numerous options but excitingly things that are a bit different and cater to the vegetarian amongst us without snubbing a nose at the carnivores. A fine balance. I had the cauliflower hash with sweet potato crisp, avocado, wilted spinach and a beetroot relish. I added a potato hash brown and a poached egg. On arrival at our table it was a visual symphony, the sweet potato looking like an opening flower. It was a taste sensation too. Yum, Yum, Yum! All made in house, just beautiful. Even the poached egg was done to perfection. My partner had the mozzarella croquettes with wilted spinach, mushrooms and a sweet chutney with a potato hash brown thrown in for good measure. Delish. The place was beautifully clean. The staff were very friendly and seemed happy! The music playing correctly in the background was audible but never intrusive. The only negative note was it was music from the 60's and early 70's so it reminded us of how old we are! Not the fault of the Flying Horse! We will definitely be back for either breakfast or lunch...or both. One nice touch is there are some breakfast items available all day.
Update 15th Nov 2024
Dropped in for a bite of lunch...staff even friendlier than before ...makes such a difference.
Menu is pretty much the same as previously. I ordered the veggie burger which has the cauliflower potato hash cake as the pattie. Very nicely balanced and a great taste. The milk bun was nicely toasted and overall a great effort. I stole a sweetcorn fritter from my partners plate. My partner had the veggie bowl but added cauliflower potato cake as well as the sweetcorn fritters that came with it. That is why I ended up with one. Very nice range of flavour and the picked pear was a standout as something a little different. Excellent spot that will tickle the taste buds but not destroy the wallet.
Of note, gluten free is available...
Read moreThe flying horse is our absolute favourite place to eat. Any and every occasion calls for a visit to "the unicorn" as we affectionately call it. I nearly don't want to write this review because I want to keep it all to myself. I've never had a bad meal!
Sensational food regardless of if you're having breakfast, lunch or just a quick coffee.
I used to visit the owners last cafe in emerald lakes and was ecstatic to find that they have opened even closer to home!!!
Their chicken burger is incredible, recently tried the scrambled eggs with chilli caramel sauce. All I can say is wow!
It's affordable, even with a family of 5, we can eat out and not break the bank. Kids meals are a fantastic size, even for my 14 yr old. The kids also love the food and always ask to come here. Super friendly people and are genuinely happy to see you enjoying their...
Read moreThe Flying Horse cafe in Ashmore, GC went above and beyond in trying to lower cross contamination risk.
I ordered their âSignature Hashâ and mentioned iâm gluten intolerant. Although the item is marked âGFâ, unfortunately, they donât have a separate fryer for frying the hashbrowns (which is why itâs important to always ask!). So I received gluten free bread instead. And when I received my meal, I was told that they cooked all my food separately and they made extra sure to reduce and cross contamination risk. Iâve had no reactions whatsoever, so I trust that they truly did do their due diligence. The very lovely young lady at the front counter was delightful, respectful, and took my dietary concerns seriously.
Plus the food was delicious!!...
