The food used to be so good but then it changed; has there been a change in management or kitchen?
We've had 3 bad experiences in a row: twice on incredibly average take outs and most recently about a fortnight ago after a game of squash. When we arrived there was only 1 table of 6, yet the waitress didn't come out of the kitchen for almost 15 mins after we rang the bell, seated ourselves, found some menus, and went to Food Works next door. Luckily my hubby and I REALLY like one another's company so we didn't mind the time it took. But when the waitress finally appeared she apologised for keeping us waiting and said it was because she was the only waitress there that night ...... no take outs were being collected and the other table were already eating so her comment made no sense.
You're probably asking yourself why we didn't leave instead but we were tired and live 2 mins down the road, so we weren't too bothered.
Unfortunately the food was not worth the wait. Who knew a restaurant cook could produce such incredibly awful, tasteless fried rice! And we ordered the speciality fried rice which you'd think would have more protein than its cheaper counterpart, but I'm not sure. The $17-odd dish was worse than what you'd expect from a food court right before closing time. The pork was absolutely no better; greasy balls of batter with a smidgeon of meat - luckily we didn't order other dishes.
Unfortunately Wellington Point no longer has any decent Chinese restaurants and we'll now be looking elsewhere.
In short, the quality of the food was insulting, the lack of service was almost comical and the menu is overpriced for what you get.
We have a 3-strike rule and Coastal Chinese has had its 3rd strike. ...
Read moreVery disappointed, What has happened. Must be new owners or chef? 2nd time the food was terrible 😫 I have been going to Coastal for the last several years and the quality has gone down hill. The worst fried rice I have ever had very dry! Would prefer Uncle Ben's from Woolies! Also, the deep fried Clamari with salt and pepper was hard. It was like left overs the night before. Very Disappointing 😞 and I was charged and extra $5.30. The price dis not reflect the price on the takeaway menu. Maybe bin the menu and make new ones? I hope they pick up there game but it's...
Read moreOur neighbours told us about their meal from Coastal Chinese Restaurant, Wellington Point. We have just enjoyed their most generous takeaway pack which is delicious and far more than two people can manage. Delicious leftovers for tomorrow. Beef in black bean sauce was tender and included an array of fresh vegetables in a tasty sauce. Honey chicken was a large serve of tender chicken, not too sweet. Accompanied by a large serve of fried rice and prawn chips. High quality and highly recommend Coastal Chinese Restaurant. Give this local...
