I recently had the misfortune of dining at Jaipur Palace restaurant, and I must say, it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this restaurant was not up to par in any respect.
Ambiance and Service: The ambiance was underwhelming, to say the least. The décor seemed outdated and lacked any genuine charm or character. The lighting was harsh, making the atmosphere feel cold and uninviting. To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. We were seated promptly, but it took an inordinate amount of time for anyone to acknowledge us. When a waiter finally approached, they seemed disinterested and rushed, as if they had somewhere better to be.
Food Quality: The most glaring issue, however, was the food. We ordered a variety of dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and not a single one met even the most basic expectations. The starters arrived cold and very poorly cooked, indicating they had been sitting out for a while. The samosas were soggy, and the filling was bland and unappetising. The supposed "fresh" naan was anything but—it was hard and dry, clearly not freshly made.
For the main course, we opted for a couple of traditional Indian dishes, including shahi chicken and 2 vegetarian curries for us. The shahi chicken that my friends had was swimming in a pool of cinnamon liquid, and the chicken itself was dry and overcooked. The sauce lacked depth and flavour, tasting more like a generic cinnamon paste than the rich, curry dish it's supposed to be. Palak paneer was named as paneer palak and claimed its never called as palak paneer. This will exhibit knowledge they have on Indian dishes. Malai kofta was not at all creamy (which is supposed to be) and Kofta was tough and chewy, and the sauce was overly salty, completely overpowering any ingredient. Overall one of the worst place to have desi Indian food. * high time they are misguiding the public that they are authentic Indian Restaurant* My fellow Aussie families please don't trust this place, you are not deserved to get misguided and misinformed about taste of Indian dishes.
Presentation: The presentation of the food was also subpar. Each dish looked hastily thrown together, with no attention to detail or care. It was clear that the kitchen staff were not invested in the quality of their work.
Cleanliness: Another major concern was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The table we were seated at was sticky, and the cutlery had visible stains on it. This lack of basic hygiene further diminished our already low opinion of the place.
Value for Money: Given the poor quality of both the food and the service, the prices at Jaipur Palace were exorbitant. We felt completely ripped off, paying premium prices for what can only be described as substandard fare.
In summary, our experience at Jaipur Palace was overwhelmingly negative. The poor service, lacklustre food, and questionable cleanliness all contributed to a thoroughly disappointing evening. More than that when we asked about the taste of the food, they were rude and claimed we being Indians don’t know about curries. When we asked we wanted to speak to Chef about this, we were told Chef was very busy cooking but really should have taken inside the restaurant, hardly there were 2 tables of people. I would strongly advise against dining here and recommend seeking out other establishments that truly understand and respect the art of...
Read moreJaipur Place has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in Redlands (and possibly in Brisbane). The reasons why I say this is because our family knew the owners when we moved to the Redlands Shire, and know that they wanted to bring traditional Indian food to Australia when they moved here. How our family knows that it is authentic Indian food is because of my grandfather, who was born and raised in Calcutta before immigrating to Australia. He had tried numerous Indian food restaurants over the 50 odd years that he had lived in Australia, and very early on in those years he found that the best way to replicate real Indian food was to make it from scratch. Roughly 18 years ago he came to visit and we took him to Jaipur Palace. He never ate at another Indian restaurant after dining in here. He loved the staff and how kind they were, he asked to speak to the manager (the owners) and he complimented them, saying how "Everything reminds me of home in Indian."
From the smells to the atmosphere, the music and decor, the wonderful man with his saxophone and the every friendly and accommodating staff, it is truly a delight. The staff may not be the same people from when I first started dining here, but the food has never changed to a "Western" version of Indian food. It has always remained true, and I still order the same 2 dishes every time and never tire of the...

So, to start off I dined in here with a moderate group of people and we were setup under a wonder piece of artwork. The hosts promptly took us straight to our table with the upmost professionalism. We were given generous amount of time to browse the menu and the waiter was able to answer any questions we had. We ended up ordering the banquet with some set meals for those who had specific dietary requirements. The random meals we were given were in fact delicious, we ordered some medium but I would insist on going hot if you want any sort of spice as the medium didn't really give off any heat. Overall this was a lovely experience and I would recommend it.
Now for the take away experience: Upon entering the store I was quickly greeted and had my order taken, I ordered a singular butter chicken (which came with its own pot of saffron? rice!) and was told 20 minutes. I walked back 20 minutes later and a very polite staff member asked me if I needed anything, I informed him I was waiting for a takeaway order and he immediately checked if it was ready for me, such great service!
Overall I would recommend this as one of the best Indian restaurants...
