Lawnton Tavern — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

I wish I could say the Tavern redeemed themselves for my poorly cooked and low quality steak I had NYE 2020 that I refused to return to eat until today… however I cannot. We ordered at 7:16pm off two phones through the table service app (within 10 seconds of each other) and waited 30 minutes for even an entree to come out. No acknowledgement that we yet hadn’t received our starters let alone any indication early on when we asked about how to order that there may be a wait. We then proceed to wait another 30 minutes for our mains, so a whole hour since we ordered. Mind you by the time we had got our starters a lot of the restaurant was empty and had died down by then. One order of two mains that was ordered off one phone arrived and the three mains ordered off the second phone arrived another 10 minutes later. It would have been nice to have eaten as a family. The mash I ordered with my schnitzel was stone cold when it arrived. Thankfully my schnitzel and caesar salad was nice but honestly that’s the only compliment I can give. The mash on the next two dishes were also stone cold and was only replaced with a hot bowl of mash after we flagged down what I presume was the manager who was lovely. The steak also looked horrendous. Although my in laws said it tasted nice it certainly did not look appealing and the ‘medium well’ was more so well done. The chips on two of the meals were like as if they came directly from the sea with the amount of salt that was on them. I’ve worked in hospitality for many years before so I can empathise when it can be busy in the kitchen and the need to clear dishes, however it became more annoying than helpful. At one stage I had my cutlery on my plate that was almost finished so I could have a sip of my very lack luster, flat, and watered down lemon lime & bitters and a waitress went to grab it without even asking if I was done. I had to quickly swallow and indicate that I was not finished. There’s a difference between a lack of table service and too much pestering. Then to top off the hilarious joke the night had become, the bar stools in the gaming room look like a shelter of cats have torn them up as their scratching post! Is that really the run down look this establishment wants to go for? The previous lounge arrangement was much nicer than ratty old bar stools. I am not one to normally leave reviews and am actually the kind of customer to tidy up as much as I can on my table before I leave to help. But after tonight, I am disappointed and am sticking to my gut that I will not be returning again. If people want excellent quality meals at a good price with great service and friendly staff and the environment to match 5 stars service… head over to Club Pine Rivers 👍🏻 It’s time to up your game...

DO NOT go here for karaoke, lady who runs it seems racist or has a hidden agenda towards people of colour, went there with a group of brown people and the lady was really rude. Put up multiple songs, when we asked where our songs were she said that we needed to wait because there were multiple people waiting. I said to her that the people waiting had gone up multiple times (they were all white), she said that they hadn’t and said our songs were right at the end (not sure why as we had put our songs up at 9pm it was then 10:30-11pm when we asked) I went to put up a different song and she said if it was the same person I had previously put down that they would not get a turn as all our songs were at the end! I would also like to add that she called up our friend, when we stood up she said “no it’s not for you”, we asked what song it was and she said it was a Beyoncé song. we then Replied that it was in fact us, she then said we couldn’t sing it as we had already had a song earlier (it was an hour before). I mentioned it to the bar staff who then apologised for the fact that this had happened to us. Still unacceptable! she’s rude and she came up to us acting indecent the whole time. Rude and disrespectful!! Such a shame as the bar staff were fine and she made the whole experience bad!!

GO TO THE VIC, THE GUY WHO RUNS IT IS AMAZING AND FAIR. SAD WE HAD TO EXPERIENCE THIS!!

Today being Father's Day my wife booked us a table at this place. I had never been here before and didn't know what to expect. The short version is it was AMAZING, highly recommended

The long version. The tavern bistro is very spacious with easy access to the bar. It has an open kitchen and the meal preparation is clearly in sight. They had a live band, clearly marked restrooms and a kids play area which included a slide set similar to McDonalds. It has a very generous carpark and the venue and carpark are wheelchair accessible for there aren't any steps along the way.

We got there for lunch. Since we had made prior booking we were escorted to our table promptly. The staff are very friendly and courteous, they genuinely cared about the experience they are providing. The place was packed and lively. We were surrounded by many families with kids of all ages. The food is ordered via a QR code and it is a full table service so you can order and sit back and relax. When the food arrived we were shocked at the size of the meals, they were extremely generous. The meats and veg were cooked to perfection. As we enjoyed our meals we couldn't stop discussing how good the food tasted. We weren't sure how we were going to finish our deserts when they arrived but they were irresistible too and had to be eaten :)
