Staying in Griffith after 4 days in the bush at the Mundi Mundi Big Bash. Chanced on La Piccola for a much-needed expresso and was transported back in time to the 1970's Italian coffee and providore scene. Lots of local (but Italian) history on the walls, in the air, and in the smiling chat of mine hosts Salvatore and his sister Maria. Think Pellegrini's in Melbourne but with provisions and take-away packed lunches made to order instead of chairs, tables, and sit-down menu. Loved it, the two expressos both hit the spot (had to have another), bought some tiramasu, biscotti, and a wedge of parmigiana. Plenty of chat, got some great local knowledge on wine, restaurants, life, you name it! A must for any traveller...

I came to Griffith for a week due to work, and everybody there was raving about the quality of the Italian hot chocolate at La Piccola, so I had to come and try it.

I was not disappointed! Their service was exceptional, so friendly and welcoming. Sam, who was serving me, explained about their products and made me a sandwich to suit my tastes (I don’t like olives) when none of their pre-made ones matched. And their Italian hot chocolate more than lived up to its reputation!

I’m sad to be leaving Griffith tomorrow, as now I won’t be able to get...

We came from Sydney to Griffith to visit family and each time we have to stop here! The absolute best Italian sandwiches! The salamis and cheeses are unbeatable here, Sam and his family from the moment you enter to the time you leave are so friendly (Were so lovely with our 3 young boys too) & welcoming we brought an array of cold cut meats and cheeses, Fresh tomato based pizza bases and coffee (The best in town!) Can not reccomend this place...

Was wondering on the Main Street trying to find a place opened for breakfast. One cafe was at capacity. Subway was opened and I had turned around to head over when by chance I saw someone come out of this deli which I completely didn’t see. The deli had ready made focaccia sandwiches in the fridge. I had the prosciutto with roast capsicum, olives and I’m guessing provolone. It was tasty and all washed down with a cafe latte.

If you go to Griffith, you have to stop here. Fantastic coffee, great sandwiches plus cured meats and salamis. Family business who welcomed us in and provided great food. If you want great Italian products then you need to come here. I look forward to going back.
