A fantastic destination for a cocktail, wine, coffee etc to sit and watch the sun set. You get a fantastic view of pretty much the whole island. Just a short stroll up the road from where the police station is or if you have your own buggy you can drive yourself or if you don't have your own buggy then catch the blue bus which will drop you off right out the front of one tree hill of where you get your drinks and nibbles then when you have had enough just catch the blue bus back, it goes to the buggy hire, Whitsunday apartments and the Reef View Hotel then back around the island minus the marina. A must place to visit when your on the island, you even get a stunning view of the moon and stars as there is not much light pollution around there for you see more stars than most people have seen before. Its a romantic place to sit back sipping on a drink of your choice and watch the sun set or if you choose to get up early then seeing the sun rise would be just spectacular also. Again the staff here are...
Read moreAmazing view, great location, but hugely underwhelming. This could be incredible, but real missed opportunity. They make themselves out to come have cocktails at sunset, but a cocktail shaker has not ever seen this place! The 4 or so cocktails all come from a tap, and when charging proper cocktail prices, maybe they should be real. They also indicate cheese and nibbles, but again pre made in a take away container. They have live music which is a distance from the pavilion in the cart parking area. You can hear the music from the pavilion but more like you are listening to a neighbours party.
Such a wasted opportunity, and the sunset was great (although angles make it disappear not in line of site) would love to run this place, as a LOT of low hanging fruit to make this a perfect sunset venue.
Breathtakingly...
Read moreWhether you enjoy the morning sunrise, the orange sunset or buzzing night life; One Tree Hill is a "must see" when you're at Hamilton Island.
Tips for the day: (because we have seen and also learnt the hard way).
Crows and Magpies are not shy, always be present when you have food even if you turn away for a quick sec. Don't get your child to look after the food, not unless you want to see them get ambushed for a photo ;) Never leave anything small, rubbish or packaged food in your buggy, the crows will steal that too. Pack a nice picnic/mat and come an hour+ earlier for the sunset. Parks and photo spots get filled up quickly. Must try One Tree Hill"s refreshing drinks...
