Beltana Hotel - Bar, Dining & Accommodation — Restaurant in Hobart

Attended the Beltana for a meal this evening. We haven’t been there for quite a while, but wow, what a downgrade in the bistro…. Sat down with the menus and was told to order at the bar, no longer table service, which wasn’t too bad. Looked through the menu to discover that the whole style of meals had changed. The menu has gone from an array of options that would make your mouth water, to just a regular pub style menu, no specials were offered. Finally decided on 2 entrees and 2 mains. Went to the bar to order. Ordered drinks while we were ordering our food and was given the wrong drink, asked for a replacement. Waited over half an hour for the entrees, and when they did arrive, only 1 came out. Waited a few minutes, and when the other entree didn’t arrive, I went to the bar to ask if it was coming. I was told that I hadn’t ordered the other starter, which I very well had. I then said that I would like the other entree. After I had just paid for the missed entree, the staff came from the kitchen with our mains. We hadn’t even started the first entree that we had ordered and they were sending our mains already, let alone not getting the second entree that had been missed the first time. After all of that, we decided to cancel all our food and get a refund. We paid for the first entree which we ate before leaving.

We were extremely disappointed.

The couple who were sitting at the table beside us were also complaining to each other about the meals that they had received.

We would not return, and were highly disappointed in the downgrade in service and...

I went to the Beltana with my family and it was a mixed experience. Firstly it is a really awkward parking lot which takes some figuring out but that can’t be changed. Secondly it was a really stressful event. I don’t know why but I was really stressed out the whole time when I am normally quite relaxed. Third the ladies were excellent and their service was great. Fourth my children went to the toilet and in the way back the youngest thought she knew the way back to the table but accidentally got her directions mixed up and accidentally went into the gambling area and got screamed at by a bald man they said he was. My oldest told me that her younger sibling quickly realised her mistake and walked out when she realised that it wasn’t the way to the toilet. Fifth they didn’t have many “good” options in my opinion but if you like a generic pub meal go here. In conclusion I had mixed feelings about the beltana, but I would recommend to someone who wants a good meal with...

Beautiful view, lovely and warm, lovely environment for dinner. Lovely menu with lots of variety on offer but my choice of pulled chicken tacos was very disappointing as when it came out it was fried chicken fingers instead of the pulled chicken. It was explained to me that there was a mixup with their supplier, but perhaps they could’ve told me prior to delivering so that I could choose whether to accept it or not. I was trying to avoid fried foods. Flavours were ok. Toilets were dirty and let down the high class vibe of the dining area. |Special tokens glued onto the tables advising that we could order online. I ordered our drinks and then, when the waitress came over to take our drink orders she advised us that ordering online didn’t work. Also they didn’t have the drink that I ordered. Maybe cover up the online ordering tokens if they don’t work? I will go back again though as there were many things I’d like to try and the view makes...
