We went on a Saturday for dinner without having a booking. It was very busy inside, the restaurant was almost full and the 2 small tables that were left were reserved. The staff gave us one of those tables.
The food was very good. We had chicken green cury and chilli basil seafood stir fry with steamed rice and chicken satay with peanut sauce to share. The penuts sauce was to die four, chicken skewers were a bit dry but very tasty. Both main course dishes were well cooked, beautifully presented, and the portions were generous. I couldn't eat all my food. The steamed rice does not come with the food and needs to be ordered separately. The regular dishes are around $20 / portion. It was a bit more expensive for seafood. The steamed rice is $4.5/person, but the portions were generous. We finished eating and it was rice left. At other thai restaurants i have been lately, the rice is never enough. Both meal with riceand the entre were about $65, that is not expensive for a couple weekend night out. The restaurant is BYO. So bring your wine when you go next time there.
I also noticed that they have a kids menu and is not expensive. Kids' meals are just $10/ portion. Lots of thai restaurants don't have kids' menu..
Staff were very attentive. The ice cold water been on our table within a minute from our arrival. They took our order as soon as we decided what to eat and the dishes came out of the kitchen with 15 minutes.
Overall, i give the restaurant 5 stars. We'll be back there for sure, and we'll make a booking...
Read morePoor management/customer service decision spoilt the night. Two members of our table ordered sweets off the menu showing the price as $5.50 and by the time they got to pay at the desk (30 mins or so later) they were informed the price was $9.50 because there was a "small" notice on the table showing the increase to that item because management had not had time to alter the menu - apparently the prices went up some months ago, he informed us. The group was informed that prices can change "without" notice so beware what you see on the menu when ordering and the price you think you might pay could actually be double the price when you get to pay. PS, the sweets item would not have been worth $2.00 frankly. As a result, on principal, that poor management decision insisting the customer pay the $9.50 price for the item means that the people at the table will not return to the Lion Thai and each of those people will let their friends know of this action at this restaurant and by this review a huge number of other people will be...
Read moreThe food was good but during our dinner time there, there was a little boy running around the place, screaming and throwing toys. when we told the family how dangerous it is to let kids play around in a restaurant, they're just angry and verbal attacking us with all the bad language they could think of. the most disappointing thing was the owner came and told us that he did allow the boy's behaviour there which he always did, because he knew the family ( it sound like "Mind your own business" to me) but I think, as customers, everyone should have the right to have their meal without bother; and for the family and owner who allowed what the boy did, it'll be too late to regret if any tragedy really happens to the boy everyone knows how dangerous it is to let a kid running around in...
