Cockys Grill — Restaurant in Maryborough

I have been sitting on this review overnight, because we have had positive experiences here, however, our "meal" last night was a waste of $200. We reserved a table, only to find out our needs (one wheelchair and one baby) weren't considered. We were crammed amongst another family, without room to move without bumping into another person. We were squeezed in between the bar and the pokies, so there was no way of communicating with the people around you without yelling. After a few minutes of having strangers standing over me shouting across us, I gave up trying to eat.

Honestly would have rathered be told that there was no more room than to be shoehorned into an area that was thoroughly unsuitable. Who wants to eat a meal while another party right under your nose? Having to literally give up your seat because there was no room left for another family? Have drunk old men coughing on your food on their way through to the pokies? If you're going to renovate, that's one thing, but accept you will have less patronage fpr a short time rather than trying to fit the same amount of people into half the space

Only good for locals who don't know any better. This place has no atmosphere, the interior looks like an office room with the cheapest furniture money can buy. The 'crispy' pizza was undercooked and greasy and tasted like cardboard. The steaks had way too much fat on it to be enjoyable. I might expect this sort of quality for half of the price demanded or less. The only good thing about both meals were the chips (fries). We would have complained but frankly we didn't think the kitchen staff were competent enough to do anything about the issues, and we were glad to be out of there when we were. This is probably the first time I've ever been so harsh on a review, but it is he truth and people need to be warned not to go here. The owners need to wake up. Considering the way this place is run I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few hygiene...

*edit to this review, 8 months later. after my latest visit - there has obviously been a chef change. I came in for the chicken, coconut salad, oh what a disaster!!! It is no longer my favourite dish in Maryborough. Dressing is no longer balanced, chicken was though and nasty, sweet potato is vile. What a change.

First review... Wow. Very good quality meals are served here. My hubby and his friend had the lunchtime meals, both were hot fresh and delicious, particularly the Lammy Burger....huge and tasty. I had the crispy coconut chicken salad and I could not be more satisfied. So much skill was used putting this dish together. It was tasty, crispy, fresh and the dressing just set it all off, I also have to mention the amazing sweet potato sprinkled over the top. Yum yum yum. Highly recommended for a great meal in...
