A minor place is a cute little almost-hidden-away treasure on Albion street closer to the McDonald’s end than the Sydney road end. It’s a weather board house with no huge signage so it can be easy to miss (despite the throngs of people that head here.) The cafe seats about 30-40 people inside and about the same outside. There are heaters and under cover seating round the side while there is smaller table seating in front as well as perhaps about 5 outside bar seats. Ordering inside can get a little cramped as they’ve definitely used all their floor space to seat people. The food at A Minor Place is amazing. Well made, delicious, balanced dishes and extremely well presented. The coffee is equally as amazing. The blend is strong yet not over powering with smooth tastes. And almost always the coffee seems well prepared regardless of who makes it. My only complaint is sometimes the wait staff seem.... disinterested? Not rude per se but certainly not chirpy/happy/easy to deal with. They almost appear condescending. However, they’re polite and “nice”. If you could get some smiles out of all the wait staff instead of just one or two A Minor Place is easily a five star establishment.

A cool space. A feel and layout to the cafe that nicely matches the neighbourhood location. Variety in the space, with benches, tables and chairs, bench seats with cushions, and outdoor tables. An example of the attention taken to the space is a huge square table with bench seats that supports large green pot plant to potential offer relatively private seating to multiple groups. There’s also a cool little hole in the wall for footpath takeaway service. The menu made deciding on food a difficult decision. But cauliflower and poached eggs lured me into the Turkish breakfast. A regretful choice unfortunately. A pretty and colourful presentation but only 4 bits of little cauliflower to accompany a very buttery sauce. The bread was good and pomegranate seeds were a nice touch but this wasn’t really enough to overcome the oiliness and the bowl of runny textures. I found myself really eyeing the quinoa, pumpkin and rocket salad bowl.

Gorgeous place! Lots of seating options, sat inside but when I went to the bathroom there were a plethora of roomy tables outside - I only came with a friend so no matter. I loved how dimly lit the inside was and the music was just the right volume, too. Ordered an iced latte for the both of us, it was lovely! Wish I ordered a large, though, as it came in a smaller latte glass. Ordered the steak sandwich and the chili scramble to share. My god, the chili scramble was delicious- the manchego cheese elevated this to perfection. It’s exactly what a chili scramble should BE!!!! Steak sandwich was good, I was a bit less impressed however but I’m going to believe it’s because we ordered it without aoli. On my side though, there was a bit of fatty meat I wasn’t a fan of. Overall, gorgeous cafe and definitely a worthy visit if you’re fiending for something to fight the sunday scaries!

We had a lovely meal at A Minor Place this Sunday. We have come on and off for over two decades. The menu is just as good, if not better than when we started coming. This weekend, I had the Minor Brekky, my partner had the Okonomiyaki. Both were excellent - fresh, hot and delicious. Some tips for eating here on the weekend: It is super busy and there is often a line up between 10-11. Given current conditions I would recommend booking a table to reduce wait time. Also, as there are a lot of people waiting to be seated, the staff told us they would prefer us not to hang out and use laptops during a busy period. Be prepared to eat and go on a public holiday, Saturday or Sunday morning. There is also tons of seating but this means the staff are absolutely run off their feet. Be prepared to wait a little to receive your coffee and food orders.

Fresh back from overseas, my tastebuds were craving the fusion offerings of Melbourne's cafes, so this was a good spot to satisfy just that. While I remember their blueberry and ricotta hot cakes fondly, today I chose the poké bowl. On a bed of multi-coloured rice lies a delicious combination of sweet potato, edamame, pickled carrot and ginger, seaweed salad, cucumber, spinach, cucumber, lightly seared salmon topped with wasabi mayo and coriander. Fresh and wholesome ingredients made for a healthy but filling lunch. The big hot chocolate was half froth but used quality chocolate. Staff are super friendly to the regulars but forget the not so regulars a little. Still it's a cosy space in the neighbourhood to hang out or grab a yummy bite to eat.

Awesome Brunswick vibes at A Minor Place 😎 Had the bubble and squeek recently and loved the richness of the dish and something a lil different for breakfast. Nice innovation on that one. Nice coffee. Intimate but cool feel amongst lovely period homes in the neighbourhood. Nice job guys 👌 Edit - tried the chilli prawn scramble - straightforward but could have used a touch more salt and spice. Good if you want a milder menu item though. Club sandwich was nice and fresh with crispy waffle fries, yum! Edit edit!: Grabbed the club sandwich (again) and steak sandwich. Massive serve which led me to take half home for a dinner special! Tasty, however the steak sandwich is a touch on the sweet side for my tooth.
