On walking in to Padre in Brunswick we were advised to sit where we liked and that there was table service.
We sat down and read the menu which mentioned food and to ask our waiter about what was on offer.
We ordered our coffees and when I asked about what food was on offer I was told to go and take a look! ....at the front counter.
We did so and then weren't sure whether to order at the counter or back at the table. The waiters were not taking any notice.
We ordered 2 large coffees and that they both be strong. When the coffee arrived it was served in a cup without a handle, which would have been a problem if the coffee was hot, but that was definitely not the case. The coffee arrived pretty much luke warm, definitely on the too cool side. I generally order my coffee warm but hadn't that day. As mentioned we asked for strong coffee and when it arrived it was not only very cool but also milky and weak !
By this stage I was starting to get annoyed.
Then the small egg and bacon tarts we ordered arrived. They were served luke warm and the egg yolk in the middle was so overcooked it was dry and powdery, it was very unpleasant. With no sauce or chutney on the side it was hard to swallow. The weak coffee did not help either!
The other option we had when ordering food was a small salad roll with meat but given the fact the rolls were no more than 10cm in diameter and they were approx. $12 each we opted for the $4 small egg tarts.
I don't think that I'll be returning to Padre in Brunswick given this very underwhelming experience and that there are many other great cafe options in the area.
Lift your game guys !
Signed: Very disappointed and not coming back...
Read moreIf I time travelled back to ancient Ethiopia and brought back the person who first discovered Coffee, I would take them to Padres. They would say "My legacy is in safe hands" while a single tear trickles down their cheek.
I visit here every day for my large latte. Large Latte Locky, as I am known. Every morning I jump out of my bed, say "Hello World!", get dressed and rush down here for the most glorious coffee in melbourne.
The staff are all cuties and/or sweeties. Make sure you visit on Friday, Saturday or Sunday as weekend crew is best crew (though I am still conducting...
Read moreNice cafe, very friendly staff and good service. I had an Ice latte and tried their coffee roll for the first time, it was alright but wasn't the best roll that I've had in terms of freshness and taste, so I'd give it a 4 out of 5. And as for the coffee, it was more on the Arabica side I think, I could taste a lot of fruity and acidic flavors which was interesting. I personally like my coffee more chocolaty and Nutty but it was fun to try a different coffee profile but that doesn't mean the coffee wasn't good, just a matter of taste and preferences. Bottom line, I enjoyed my...
