I really didnât want to make this review due to the nice staff, however the price you pay for the food you get is simply unacceptable.. Ate here with a friend on Sunday, and asked for my eggs âwell doneâ which is what Iâve always asked for at other places and my eggs ALWAYS come out looking soft and fluffy no matter which restaurant I eat that. Asked for well done at assembly ground and shocked was an understatement. When you look at reviews and their social media accounts, youâd think to yourself that this is a pretty fancy breakfast place. The eggs came completely over cooked, flat, and had a very eggy smell. I told the waiter Iâve never seen eggs at a restaurant like this before. She told me sheâd get me new ones, and not even a minute later she brought she new eggs which were still flat, not soft or fluffy at all. I told her to bring me eggs how they would normally bring them, not well done just to see what theyâd look like and they were still really bad. Myself and my friend were absolutely shocked. The staff were nice and coffee was good but it seemed like more of a chef problem. Kind of got the impression that the chef doesnât really care. My friend also ordered her poached eggs to be medium done and just a bit runny however they came out really runny. So disappointing for the price you pay as itâs a very expensive place. Hopefully chef can do better for others. Iâve attached a photo of the eggs they post on their socials and the photos of...
Read moreOver the weekend I headed down to Essendon to check out the newly opened Assembly Ground cafe! And may I just say that to say it was AMAZING is an understatement! for a newly opened cafe in a suburb surrounded by heaps of competition and other little cafes, this place is absolutely killing it!
Upon walking in, there was automatically a friendly vibe that resonated throughout the whole room as the staff constantly had smiles on their faces and were willing to help out wherever they could! The cosy but modern interior made me feel right at home and the extensive menu had me second guessing what to order because I honestly wanted to try everything!
It was a hard decision but I finally settled on trying out the chilli scrambled, pumpkin smash, zucchini corn and halloumi fritters and the blueberry and ricotta hotcake! And may I just say I'm still dreaming about all these dishes and definitely could not choose a favourite! the coffee here is also amazing, but may I just say that the red velvet milkshake was definitely a winner in my eyes as I am a massive sweets person! IVE NEVER TASTED ANYTHING LIKE IT!
Overall it was such a great experience and cannot wait to head back! if you haven't been yet definitely head there ASAP and experience it...
Read moreHaving usually Ubered from this place for the last 5 years on a regular basis, I went in today to physically pick up my coffee. After ordering , I was waiting around for 10 minutes. Thatâs fine as they must have been busy.
But after being approached by a gentleman to ask if I was right, I informed him that I was waiting for my coffee. I was taken aback when he then told me to go and wait outside for my coffee until it was done.
Being a winter morning in Melbourne and having had a procedure done , I was not in the right state to be standing outside in the cold.
Common courtesy would be to offer me a seat on the barstools, which were all empty as opposed to ushering me out of the venue to wait for a coffee.
Perhaps in future, the gentleman might want to consider the way in which he handles situations like this
I generally donât write reviews, but I felt like this warranted one. Irrespective of the thousands of dollars I have spent at the venue, or even if I was a first time customer, this is certainly not the way in which I would like to be treated or anyone else for that matter
Extremely...
