FoodWorks Essendon — Local services in Melbourne

This shop is notoriously EXPENSIVE , much more than many other FoodWoorks that I’ve been to, plus, they have too POOR VARIETY of merchandise . EXPIRED PRODUCTS ON THE SHELVES!!.. To my surprise, many times I found expired products sitting on the shelfs, like cheese, yogurt, ice cream, waiting for a distracted customer to buy them without checking on the dates. They practically don’t offer specials like the other shops of the same brand. On top of that, there’s a tall man in his 50’s (no glasses) working there, I don’t know his name, but he yelled at me like if I was a stranger in the shops. It was embarrassing. I was a very good customer. This employee has too BAD TEMPER , bad manners. I DON’T NEED TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT. There are many other places where I can go and buy in peace. Not coming back and I don’t recommend unless it was an emergency. FYI: There’s an another Foodwork fully stocked and cheaper not that far from there, on Buckley St,...

The family who runs this place are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are always upbeat and helpful. When I desperately needed some things five minutes after closing time, the husband who was already at his car saw me standing outside, unlocked everything and turned the lights back on just to let me in at the last minute. Convenient location and hours, but the stock on the shelves isn’t always in the best condition to sell. I’ve seen boxes with sticky tape on them, blue mould on bagels and some of the fruit feels old. They also overcharge you on items by scanning them in at a higher price than what the shelf price tag has by a few dollars and then don’t always offer receipts. Just be aware of this when you shop!
