On Wednesday 18th December 2024 we decided to take our son to have some ice cream after his grade 6 graduation celebration. Knowing that Augustus closes at 11pm we decided to invite a friend along with her son whom also graduated. We arrived at the upper Ferntree Gully location about 9:25pm. A large group of people left as we walked in. I was checking out the flavours trying to decide from all the great flavours only to be approached by the manager on duty with a very rude "can we help you? We will be closing in a few minutes ". I replied in turn " sorry, so many flavours, it's hard to choose. Also your Website states you are open until 11pm. Plus we are meeting a friend here. She is on her way" the manager replied very rudly. "Well we have new hrs, they are displayed on the front windows" pointing towards the windows. She then continued "we will not be waiting or staying back for your friend". At this point, I called my friend to advise and she was literally arriving. They walked in and chose their ice cream. Her son asked for a milk shake to which the manager rolled her eyes and sneaked a comment to the other girls behind the counter. One could see the other girls were uncomfortable telling people they were closed and looked like they felt bad for the patrons. At this point the manager walked to the front door and stopped another customer from coming in. We left and stood my the front windows where I took a picture of the sign on the windows. The sign read that as of Friday the 20th December, their hours were changing. Today was the 18th not the 20th. For the next 5 minutes we saw about 7 different people come for ice cream only to turn around and leave. One of them stopped and spoke to us. She advised us that she had been in the place a few days before and the same manager was on duty and was very rude towards customers as though she did not want ro be there. As a business manager I witnessed a great business loose profit due to having the wrong employee behind the counter. This manager stopped a good $300 of ice cream from being sold in 5 mins. What is she really doing for this business? To the owners, I regret to say that this experience turned me off going back to this location as I'm sure it has done to others as well. Please , for your buisness sake look into you choice...

Tonight, on our way home, my child had a sudden craving for ice cream — and with it being 8:50 PM, we realized most places were already closed. We saw that Augustus Gelatery – Upper Ferntree Gully was just about to close, so I called and kindly asked if they could stay open a little longer so we could make it in time.
To my surprise and delight, the lovely lady on the phone graciously agreed. When we arrived, both Liyan and Clay welcomed us with warm smiles and open hearts — even though their shift was technically over. They served us with such kindness and genuine care, and it truly made our evening so special.
What amazed me even more was that after we arrived, three more people came in, seeing the shop still open — and without hesitation, Liyan and Clay happily served them too. Their generosity, patience, and willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on me.
It’s not every day you meet people who serve with such joy and selflessness, without watching the clock or turning people away. I’m simply amazed and incredibly grateful for their kindness.
Thank you, Liyan and Clay, for making a simple ice cream run a heartwarming memory for my family. 💛🍦 Highly recommend this store — not just for their delicious gelato, but for the exceptional people behind...
Read moreI wanted to share my feedback regarding our visit to your Ferntree Gully store last night.
We came in to grab some ice cream and milkshakes, and I was initially hesitant to try the milkshakes due to their price of $10 each. We ended up ordering three milkshakes along with some ice cream.
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the milkshakes. I noticed that they were made with milk, a significant amount of what appeared to be clear liquid (which I assume was water), and only two scoops of ice cream. As a result, the milkshakes were very watery and lacked flavor.
Additionally, I’ve observed that the staff at this location often seem disinterested in providing service, which has been a recurring issue over the past year. While we prefer the Ferntree Gully store for its larger space, the quality and service have not met our expectations.
Paying $10 for a watered-down milkshake feels unjustifiable, and based on recent reviews, it seems that feedback is often met with generic apologies without any real follow-up or action taken with the staff.
Regrettably, I believe we will be looking for other options...
