We kicked off with a yummy mango lassi which wasnāt as thick as Iāve generally had before and therefore super drinkable, I was on to my second before I knew it!
We ordered the chicken tikka and tandoori prawns for entree. The chicken tikka wasnāt as bold in flavour as I was expecting but I enjoyed it with the sauces we found on the table (mint and a tamarind). The tandoori prawns had a vibrant colour to them and went well with a side of raita.
For mains we had to go for a butter chicken but also tried the recommended eggplant with coconut and peanuts dish. Each dish can be customised to your level of heat, on this one we went spicier as my dining companion wanted to spice up his life. This is where my second lassi came in handy as it was too hot for me but I kept on eating as I was thoroughly enjoying it nonetheless.
The butter chicken was also right up my alley a nice sweet rendition and I was very pleased to taste a decent amount of garlic in the garlic naan. I am sick to death of restaurants serving garlic naans devoid of garlic. We also tried the laccha paratha one of my favourite flakey breads that you donāt find in many places. I definitely recommend ordering one or two of these.
To finish we had some pistachio kulfi which was a nice light way to end the meal. Extremely friendly service and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there with high expectations on our wedding anniversary. as soon as we entered my 4.5 yr old kiddo said- this place smells weird. the Indian owner seemed to me like a racist - treating fellow Indians poorly. he thought he can get away with commanding my son not to brk cutlery or move around, directly to him. too intrusive n annoying, as if he didnt get anyone else to bug tat day. I only told him that even if he was unrealistly scared tat my toddler son may break a glass or thought he moves arnd disturbing other ppl he cud have escalated to me or my husband as we are the parents and not to my kiddo son directly. the owner still thinks he is correct and we were rude?! the fish starter had a bone. instead of apologizing the waiter vanished inside quickly. came out after sometime then apologized. food was bland and tastless- totally unIndian, made to please only white population. so Indians- please stay away. total waste of money and time! ps: even thought I am now heavily pregnant- the waiter asked- if I would like to have some wine. money mindedness: 100% empathy: 0% will never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my go to place for great Indian food. I have been meaning to do this review for a long while and finally now providing justified feedback on this great place. Have been coming here with the brother-in-law for a number of years. Prior to Avatar we tried and were disappointed by many other restaurants. We are both from the UK, not to say we are experts in Indian cuisine but as enjoyer of Indian food I can say that the Avatar quality is fantastic. The food tastes great and more importantly the quality is always consistent. Only issue I have is my lack of adventure in sticking with the same menu items, I'm a creature of habit and the having dinner here is a treat and therefore I go for the items that I enjoy so much (veggie platter, veg korma). Staff are lovely and friendly. Thank you Avatar for being so great and look forward to many more...
