Walked and was greeted kindly by the two staff members. I ordered my coffee and had a question about one of the pastries, the woman helping me seemed knowledgeable about how it's made and highly recommended it. She even picked a good one for me to try. It was when it was time to pay that my opinion of this woman changed drastically. My coffee and pastry was $8.20. I gave her $50, clearly a yellow note. She gave me change for a $20. When I contested the change she had given me, she was adamant that I gave her $20. I stood my ground and continued to argue about the change. She opened the cash register, stared at it, and eventually gave up. She handed me the difference but had a puzzling annoyed look on her face. It isn't and shouldn't be my job to get the correct change or to persuade her the truth. Even though she gave me my change, I continued to kindly tell her that I did give her a $50 note because I didn't want her to think I was stealing from her. During this time a customer standing behind me said, "if it's any help, she did give you fifty." Even though I knew I was right, it made me felt better that I had a witness. The lady helping me just said, "oh okay." No apology or remorse whatsoever. I grabbed my coffee and pastry, and just left. I won't be returning because of the way I was treated. I'm sorry if other customers have lied to you previously, but I shouldn't receive the brunt of their deception. I hope that once you've counted your inventory and calculated your money that you realise your mistake. Please learn to treat each customer with respect as an individual, not as a group.
