Passed through the area with my family just over a month ago looking for a good brunch spot. After reading the raving reviews for this place, we thought we would drop in to see what it was all about. After prompting a couple of times from staff for a table, we eventually were seated. They seemed more interested in chatting with regular customers than helping anyone else. We gave them the benefit of the doubt as it was the weekend and we could see the place was pumping. We waited for a good while and ended up having to prompt staff a few times before we could order. The food came out at all different times and was delicious. The coffees were great too. I think the let down was the service in this situation. It was frustrating as a patron as many times we wanted to order more food (sweets) and ended up giving up on anyone no matter how much eye contact we made to grab attention and I ended up ordering at the counter, but not after a long wait, waiting for staff to stop talking to customers/seemed more like friends. At the end, even going to the counter to pay the bill seemed to take an eternity to get anyone’s attention and when I did, we still had to wait a good period of time before we could pay. This place has the potential to be amazing as the food was spectacular but the service was just such a letdown on our visit. I don’t recommend it to families with young children, as you will be waiting a long time to order and therefore an even longer time before your little one’s food is out. There is parking available as a part of the shopping centre on the side, it’s...

Ordered the beef birria sandwich. Bangin'. Loved it. Side of chips also well seasoned. Coffee favour was good but not served at the right temperature, too cold. Service was disappointing and main reason for lower rating. Went on a Sunday at 10am. Place was busy but not heaving. Stood at the door thinking someone would seat me. Service kept walking past but not engaging at all. There's a couch on the side which was confusing whether it was for people waiting for a table or waiting for take-aways. No signs indicating the process at all and poor customer service on entry makes it difficult and I almost walked off. Needs to be a wait to be seated sign out front at the very least or staff learn to engage. Finally got a young guy because I basically walked right up to him and he pointed me to a free table. After that he got busy cleaning. He was cleaning every table but forgot to come back to take our order. Took about 20min for him to finally come near enough to ask if we could order. Mind you there were other staff around too but not sure what they were doing other than staying near the kitchen and focusing on the smaller number of tables near that service point. Food came out quickly though so the kitchen seems to be organised. Front of house though a lot more chaotic, disorganised and not looking up to see what customers needs attention. More focused on cleaning and hiding. Harsh but true. Train front of house to be more attentive, put some basic signage in and refine your system and priorities for service and this place...

Once and Done!

Coffee was ok at best for my liking; not sure if it was the coffee or the milk used. More disappointingly was the middle eastern breakfast ordered, which aside from nice presentation, lacked in a few ways. Eggs had a fair bit of really undercooked whites - yuk; the zataar pizza bread was either old, reheated, out of a packet - not sure but we all agreed it was hard and didn't taste fresh; we would have appreciated fresh home made labneh - it was ok, like the dips you buy in the store. Edit- Obviously the owners are offended, because we did not enjoy your recipes, I get it, but note that we've eaten a lot of this food elsewhere, and it has been delicious, so we have something to compare it to. Reviews afterall are personal opinions based on experience. This visit was almost 3 weeks ago (didn't jump on the ph to review - popped into my head now that I had time...) We did have to ask the server how much longer it would be and by the time food was served, we ate what we could and had to run. When asked at the register, we simply said it was ok, but didn't have time to discuss, so we could catch our meeting. In hindsight I should have sent it back...

Baked Since 95 is a milkbar turned Middle Eastern inspired cafe, located on Wattle Valley Drive in Hillside. It is 100% halal. 🇱🇧 The menu seems to have everything you could want, brunch, lunch, toasties, sangas and lebanese baked goods like kaak and manoush. The dishes were great portions and also very well priced compared to other cafes - and the quality was top! All of the drinks were amazing, the coffee, chai, juice and especially the Snickers Smoothie. ⭐️ Sujuk Kaak - our favourite of the 3 we tried! ➖ Halloumi Kaak - really tasty but it was very wet! ✔️ Cheese Kaak - simple and cheesy! ⭐️ Steak Frites - 5/5. Crunchy roll, lots of sauce, cheese, perfectly cooked and tender steak. ✔️ Zaatar Manoush - they use their grandmothers dough recipe! ✔️Turkish Eggs - generous dish!! a reliable order. ⭐️ Pistachio French Toast - I didn’t expect it to be filled! Super moist, flavourful, that pistachio butter cream on top. Definitely a wow dish. Blown away by this spot, and even though we tried a generous selection we still had FOMO from watching what others ordered. Just means we will have to come back and try more! ⭐️ 4.7/5 💸 $$

It is one of the best coffee shops in the West. We recently discovered Baked since 95 when a friend recommended it and, WOW, what an awesome find. It's a great little cafe in an unassuming little local shopping centre in the suburbs. The decor is very clean and almost French inspired. The food is just magnificent and the coffee's are great too. Very friendly and welcoming service. I've been 5 times now and was finally able to take a picture of the food (every time it came out before, I could hardly wait to bite into it and kept forgetting to take a picture). If you want an awesome burger, I highly recommend the brekky burger, which is a (turkey) bacon, egg and hashbrown burger, and ask them to add a wagu beef patty to it. It's the best burger I've ever had. Can't recommend Baked since 95 highly enough!
