Fish Salt Hillside — Restaurant in Melbourne

First time customer. Got recommended to by a friend. Very Clean and tidy establishment. Helpful and polite staff. Ordered a $12.50 meal to try all the basics. Food is fried in a oil that makes all the food taste very similar. It's not a bad thing but unique. It's not the old school flavour but a new age flavour that could and is liked by the younger gen. Chips are on the fatter side and a little hard also. Not a bad thing. Dim sim was cooked perfect. Potato cake was a little disappointing. But the flake is the deal maker or breaker. It was fresh and the size was good. I didn't like it. Would I recommend to friends and family? I'd say there's at least 5 better fish/chip shops around Hillside. I would give 6.5 out of 10. Making an update to my original review. 2 years ago I was very pleased with the service, quality and quality of the food. Good prices too. Now, not so much. Ordered 2 burgers with small chips via Uber eats. Received the order and was left utterly disgusted with the quality of food.

1 burger was with the lot costing a total of $20. The other was a hamburger with bacon added for a cost of $2.70. The burger and added bacon was a total of $16.30. Not worth the price at all. As a matter of fact, Ive included pictures of the bacon and lettuce used. Again, disgusting quality and quantity for the price paid.

Also got a small chips for $7.80 which were cold and stale.

All in all, my wife and I have decided to never come here again....

After my local closed down, My family and I went hunting for another and found this place. While the menu prices were unquestionably high compared to the other places in the area I gave them a shot, suffice to say I won't be back - ever. The food, although at standard was overshadowed by the customer service that completely lets this place down. The most appalling, impolite and deceiving customer service I have ever experienced.
