You will be blown away by the generous portion sizes of the Balcan style banquet menu offering a great selection of gourmet meats from the grill including traditional cevapi, burger (pljeskavica), sausages, pork fillet (vesalica), pork medallions, chicken, served with traditional cabbage salad, chopped fresh onion, chips/potatoes, kajmak, ajvar and warm lepinja (foccacia). Thi mixed platters are a must for meat lovers and someone who wants one of each but the individual dishes such as a variety of snitzels (incl Karadjordjeva Snicla - rolled veal stuffed with kajmak and Mozarella cheese), cevapi (traditional, smoked, woth bacon, in kajmak etc) chicken, fish or grilled stuffed mushroos - there is something for everybody, you won't be disappointed. Perfect for casual dining as well as birthdays and other celebrations for smaller as well as large groups too as the restaurant set up is flexible and can cater for groups of various sizes and with banquet platters beautifully presented on raised wooden boards it is ideal for bringing people together to cele rate in a beautiful, stylish, comfortable and relaxed setting I look forward to coming back soon xx
P.S. Before dining at Balcan Grill, I dined at a reputable steak house where my steak looked lovely, it was served on a sizzling plate but unfortunately the steak was so tough I struggled to cut it or chew it. The salad that accompanied the steak was coarsely chopped cabbage and carrots mostly, very taugh tough and tasteless. The only item I enjoyed was the steak fries. I did not complain or leave a review. Last week I dined with my family at a Greek restaurant in Maidstone where we ordered a meat platter for 2 and a seafood platter for 2. The amount of food and variety and quality of food was great (lamb, beef, chicken, salmon and prawn skewers, kalamari, fish fillets, scallops etc, incl. 3 dips, pita bread, Greek salad and rice. Unfortunately this food was not seasoned well (if at all) and had no taste so I just didn't enjoy it. I did not leave a review. I just wouldn't bother going back or recommending it. It was therefore such a wonderful experience to come back to Balcan Grill on Sunday and get a lovely generous platter of food that tasted as good as it looked and as good as on previous visits. Consistency is important as is the taste and presentation. It was my pleasure to leave a well deserved review for Balcan Grill and I will definitely come back. This restaurant ticks...
Read moreIn response to Linda Stankovića review. I order 6 Zikinja Dinastija over the phone at a little after 5pm on Saturday. Your menu states a minimum of 6 people in order to be able to order this special meal. So we ordered for 6 people. Your menu also states this meal is $75 pp, which adds up to ONLY $450. We were in fact charged $525...that math equates to 7 people not 6....a $75 refund would be the professional response instead of lying and saying we ordered for 4 when your menu clearly specifies a minimum of 6
The portion sizes were absolutely terrible. We received 6 pieces of bread...which was the only correct portion of what we ordered. The pljeskavice were in halves and only 6 halves. Not 1 full hamburger, or 1 hamburger per person but only half a hamburger patty per person. The ćevapi were tiny, nor even the size of my pinky finger and not enough for 2 per person. We did not receive rice at all....we received 2 Šopska salata that has very very little cucumber 95% tomato and 3% grated feta. 2 kupus salata, and the only other thing we received was 2 boxes of chips...not even full. The meat tray was NOT EVEN CLOSE TO FULL.
We couldn't speak to your staff as we ordered takeaway and were not in your restaurant to be able to speak to them.
The most disappointing part of this meal is that we love Balkan grill but every time we have ordered takeaway it is an utter disappointment and waste of money. For $525 we could have gotten a lot more food and had a better experience.
I find your response to her review to be incredibly distasteful....happy for you to defend yourself if you don't lie about what was ordered especially seeing your menu is online for all the public to see and can clearly see this particular meal has a minimum of 6 people. Even if you gave us a 'discount' as you tried to call it your math is still wrong. Please see a screenshot of your menu for...
Read moreThe food is disappointing and the prices are shocking. Really taking advantage of poor people missing their homeland and forcing them to pay ridiculous amounts for poor quality food.
Do NOT get the 'kajmak' as I guarantee you it is just feta cheese mixed with who knows what. It is NOT kajmak, I promise you.
There are some amazing Balkan restaurants in both, chapel Street and South Melbourne that are 100x better (and cheaper).
Responding to the comment below : your comment is absolute proof of how you treat your customers. And FYI my mother has never even been to this joint 🤣🤣 so don't go hating on all the wrong people 🤣🤣 have some respect hah Re that thing you call kajmak - here's the recipe: crumbled feta, a little butter, some thickened cream and you're good to go. Goodluck making profit from...
