Delicious coffee, toasties and sandwiches made fresh to order at this friendly neighbourhood corner shop.
Out of their eye-drooling display of sandwiches, my favourite would have to be their chicken club and salt beef sandwich. They butter and toast their sourdoughs so good so make sure to request for this option!
Chicken club (5/5): love the chicken, lettuce, sauce to toast ratio but love the aioli, bacon salt and chicken parfait dip even more! This is what you call a perfect chicken toastie. Lettuce was fresh, whilst the bread was toasted to perfection, not too greasy and crunchy, and chicken was juicy!
Chicken caesar (4.5/5): again the chicken breast was juicy and flavourful but the caesar sauce with anchovy gave the whole sandwich a flavour explosion. This over a caesar salad any day.
Salt beef (5/5): the ciabatta roll was buttery fluffy and crispy on the edges when toasted. The brisket was to die for - so much punch from the brisket, you can taste the smoke from the grill on your palate. The pickles and seeded mustard balances out the heaviness from the brisket, creating a beautiful flavour experience.
Reuben (4.5/5): one of the best reuben toasties I’ve had in Melbourne. The star element is definitely how well they butter and toast their sourdough to create that crunchy buttery goodness. Pastrami is succulent and flavourful compared to other reuben sandwiches. They add a perfect amount of pickles and sauerkraut to create that sour kick whilst allowing the pastrami to shine. They also have a creamy mustard mayo sauce that mellows the sourness and creates a perfect harmony of sweetness, savoury and sourness.
Bam bam (4/5): better than most ham egg croissants. The truffle takes the flavour to a whole new level.
Broc & Mush (4/5): who knew vegetarian food could taste just as good. Would have preferred the broccoli to be a bit softer as I kept pulling out the large branches of broccoli. The flavour from the roasted mushrooms, fried sage and smoked almonds created a rich nutty element which was to die for. Still prefer my meaty sandwiches
Rosey’s Cubano special (4.25/5): prefer my cubano with a bit less mustard, but everything else was just superb. The pork shoulder was succulent and juicy, and the swisse cheese was so velvety and a great compliment. The house pickles were sweet which cut through the heaviness of the meat and cheese and elevated the flavour.
Fresh sandwiches are available at 7 whilst their special toasted sandwiches and rolls are ready at 10. Get in early bc they sell out fast.
I remember this shop keeps closing down or rebranding but I believe BAM is going to be here for a long while. Food: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Ambience:...

🐄 Salt Beef Bun 🥪 The Chicken Club 🍅 Easy Peasy Caprese 🥐 BAM BAM
BAM is Essendon’s newest and most exciting sandwich deli but also - doubles as a reinvented, artisanal corner store. Collaborating with local brands they stock the best of the best. You will find fresh bread from @pennyforpound, specially curated hampers and platters as well as products from @fancyhanksbbq, @entrecotemelbourne and @houstonsbbq (just to name a few).
It is impressive not only because of how many options there are - 12 to be exact - but they don’t just do the same as everyone else. Of course you have classics like a Reuben and Bacon Egg roll but almost everything else is unique to them. Respect!
Picking a favourite sandwich here was literally like splitting hairs but we unanimously decided it was the Salt Beef Bun. Crispy 12-hour beef brisket, tang from Rosey’s pickles, a good hit of seeded mustard in a soft, fresh, Turkish roll. I literally yelled out ‘YUM’ after my first bite. 😂
A close runner up was the Chicken Club, with poached chicken, bacon butter, lettuce, cucumber and BAM aioli on shokupan (elite choice). Every element was perfect, super fresh and well seasoned. It is even served with a side of pickles and chicken pate.
You might expect the Caprese to be too simple but don’t overlook it, packed with flavour and drizzled with a good balsamic. The Bam Bam again another great option, a flaky croissant filled truffle oil and chive scrambled eggs and mortadella. If you’re a Biscoff lover, don’t skip the shake! 🥤
The sandwiches from the kitchen are on the pricier side ranging from $20-22 but worth it. You can taste the quality in every element. Highly recommend this spot, definitely a favourite for me and I’ll be back to make my way through the menu. They also usually do a special on the weekend which always look insane, making me wish they were permanent...
Read moreChecked out BAM corner store on recommendation, very cute store. Ordered TWO of the “Broc & Mush” - one was LOADED with mushrooms and the other had a couple scattered in. Which was disappointing. They look like completely different sandwiches. Nonetheless it was a great taste combo, and as a vegetarian I definitely appreciate the thought that had been put into creating it. Also got the caprese which was good. The bread is delicious and they get toasted to crisp perfection - which is just the way I like my sandwich. The treats looked inviting.. as did the little “staples section” the vibe is awesome, loved the music playing and the staff are funny friendly and bubbly. The toasties are good if you’re in the area, but probably wouldn’t...
