Would come back, but not happy with our experience

We had high hopes, but unfortunately, our visit fell short.

We waited over an hour for our food, and even our coffee took over an hour to arrive. Although we received a complimentary cake and a cupcake as compensation, it was a nice gesture, but it didn't make up for the long wait.

We were a table of five, and it was frustrating that the staff did not check in on us during the wait.

The sides arrived a full 10 minutes before the mains, which disrupted the flow of the meal.

The chili on the chili scramble was underwhelming.

A burger ordered that was marked as spicy on the menu didn’t have the kick expected. I understand spice is subjective, but the symbol on the menu set a different expectation.

On a positive note, the açaí bowls were delicious, and the coffee, once it finally arrived, was great.

However, the experience was soured further when we paid the bill. The server didn’t know how to split the bill properly, which left the last payer covering an extra 10% of the total.

To add, the restaurant wasn’t understaffed. The owner mentioned they had new staff on, and it wasn’t even busy, which makes the poor service even more disappointing.

A surcharge is usually understandable, but it's frustrating when the service is subpar.

Unfortunately today, despite the beautiful set up in this cafe, we received poor service and even more disappointing food. I ordered a carrot cake with my wife and received a piece with very evident mould. I understand this can happen at an establishment. However when I made it clear that there was mould on my cake I was told very bluntly ‘no that’s not mould’. Very obviously the staff member then noticed the mould after turning his back to me and realised that the cake did in fact have mould on it. With no shame he decided to not deliver an apology. This is no misunderstanding. I suggest for customers to be careful with any food that you receive from this establishment. The lack of concern and care from our server was shocking. I hope this establishment understands that a customer would not push to leave a bad review if they had been apologetic about the bad experience, there was no shame and no acknowledgement, and we paid in full despite all of this.

We have made a report to Mooney Valley City Council for holding and then further serving mouldy food at this establishment. Due to the fact that this went looked past, we do not know whether this cake is still being served or not, so we have gone forth with the report for the health of any customers that may not pick up on the mould like we...

Tl;dr - excellent brunch spot. Just try it.

Mr Walker was wxcellent! Went for a Saturday brunch with my partner and the dog to Mr. Walker.

Their coffee is right on the money. Ordered an ice latte on a hot day and was very happy with what they brought! The taste was strong yet nuanced and the size was great

The food was fantastic! Pictured in the photo is the best fried chicken burger I've had in a loooong time. The chicken breast was crispy yet soft and succulent and it matched so nicely with the cheese, bacon and the pickled cabbage/cucumber it came with. The only bad part about it was I was so stuffed from eating that I couldn't finish the yummy sweet potato chips it came with! Not a real complaint at all though.

There was also heaps of outdoor seating and plenty of shade too.

Looks like they also have a great selection of baguettes, rolls and some desserts which I'll definitely have to suss out when I'm needing a quick feed.
