Worst steak ever! Went on a Saturday night, it was super busy, queued 30 mins to place our orders. Waited another 25 mins for our steaks to arrive, but came out totally wrong. Ordered scotch fillet but given rump steak, ordered gravy sauce and gave me mushroom sauce. We asked the waitress, just worry they have given us someone’s else steak, they said that was ours. Well, I was hungry after that 1 hr wait, I don’t want to wait another 30 mins for another one. But that rump steak was worst steak ever I had in my whole life, super dry inside, very very well done ( I ordered medium rare). I could only chew 2 small pieces of it, it was way too dry and chewy that I just couldn’t swallow any more. Tried to complain to the waitress, but they don’t care at all. $36 steak, won’t be back for sure.

This 5 star review goes mainly towards Daniel (front of house) tonight. My friend and I ordered the roast of the day, the meat was beautifully cooked, and there was generous amounts of it, however unfortunately both of our veggies were cold. My friend went up to the counter to ask for them to re-make our veggies, and danial really went above and beyond. He was so lovely and attentive, he got our veggies re-made, then offered us drinks and desert on the house. He continued to come back and check that we were okay. I was really impressed with him, even though it wasn't his fault, he handled the situation so professionally. I hope this review finds him well, and that management ensure he is rewarded, because without his attentiveness and kindness tonight, I would not be giving 5 stars.

Legit I think every pub should be able to nail a steak and chips. Chips were over cooked to the point the fork didn’t pierce them and the inside were just as crispy as the outside. Mushroom sauce was watery and lacked flavour. The salad was boring but who cares about a salad. But the steak was mostly fat and if it was 300grams 230 of it was fat. And the meat was charred leaving a bad taste and the meat that wasn’t cremated was over cooked and somehow tasted like it was soaked in water to defrost. Like in an episode of my kitchen nightmares, I assume Gordon Ramsay would accuse them of selling frozen steak. Meant to be mid rare. A steak this bad should be rare as in hard to find.

I attempted to attend this venue recently, horrible experience. Myself and my husband approached the front door of the venue to be greeted by what one could only describe as a bully of a security guard. Upon entering we were asked had we had a lot to drink this evening to which I responded with I have had nothing and my husband had a couple of beers over dinner to which we were refused entry. I said to the security guard why are we being refused he responded with I believe your husband is intoxicated I was stunned I explained to the security guard that my husband has a disability which affects his legs happily offered to show him the scaring, this causes him to talk and stand with an unusual gait which can make him appear like he is staggering. We were asked to prove his disability happily offered numerous pieces of proof. Whilst I could have stood at the front door and provided the herald sun and age articles that discuss the massive fall my husband had been through and the fact he is lucky to still be here I chose not to. We had been humiliated enough. We were not a group of young males we were a middle aged couple going for an end of night drink left to feel degraded and humiliated by a disgusting security guard. As a person involved in the disability and aged care advocacy sectors I do not recommend this venue to anyone who is wanting to feel welcomed and accepted. To say I was shocked is an understatement. All venues have the right to refuse entry to anyone they chose you will never get the opportunity to refuse us again. I have in the past utilised this venue many times to take clients to due to its accessibility, never again. From my research it would appear this is not the first instance of problems with security treating patrons badly. After this horrid experience we went to another near by venue which we are known at welcomed not accused of lying about a disability or labelled intoxicated. There are so many nicer venues out there don't bother with this one. Shame on you ALH for allowing your staff to...

Meals in the bistro were good but it seems a few months ago the quality in the meals has noticeably declined which is reflected in my score.

For example the vegitable stirfry was 95% flavoured noodles with very little vegetables included. There was so much noodle that it clumped and vegetables couldn't be mixed through.

And the calamari main, when last ordered I was lucky to get 5 pieces of calamari and these were not 5 large pieces. Mostly small to medium. This is a main meal not an entree. It seemed the plate was loaded with chips instead to bulk up the meal. This is a definite change from last year in which it was a good meal, no complaints.

The chicken wrap is another one. I usually order no cheese and the wrap is still usually full with extra salad in its place. Last time it was quite empty for a wrap compared to most other places.

Overall the staff have always been nice and polite and the venue is clean. I'm just disappointed the quality of the meal has noticeably decreased. Whilst I was regularly visiting this venue I now choose to eat elsewhere due to this change.

Personally I'd rather pay a bit more to get a good to great meal instead of a meal that feels like the food has been skimped on and the plate loaded up with the least cost items to pad out the plate.

Also a note for feedback: A family member ordered a meal with chips when there was a shortage and received sweet potato chips instead with no warning. Normally chips means potatoes chips so it was unexpected. The issue here was there was no note on the menu, signs in the bistro and the person taking the order did not notify they were using sweet potato due to the potato shortage. We are ok with substitutions, what was missing was the note so the customer was aware of the...

My first experience at this bistro, Wednesday 17th April 2024. We had reserved a table for 11.30 am. Arrived at 11.20 am with my baby and 4 yr old. I wandered around, as all the tables were empty and my son was keen to have a play in the indoor playground after a 1 hour drive. The place was empty and i was expecting to see a staff member sooner or later. Then there was a lady was behind the bar. So I approached her and sold 'Hello' she said 'I am just getting ready' i thought this was a bit unfriendly and not very welcoming. I had my baby in the pram, and she had better things to do rather than greet me politely. When our reservation was made, my friend had requested the table be near the play ground, so we could keep a close eye on my son. There was a table next to the playground and seeing there was no customers as yet , we placed our bags there and asked if we could sit at this table. The lady said 'it's reserved, booked out...kids arriving at 12pm' so we thought fair enough. It was worth the ask as the place was still empty and we were the first customers there. So we had a table close by, and to our surprise, no body showed up even by 12.30.at the table we requested. I thought their service by this staff member was very unfriendly and not welcoming, which reflects on this business. When I placed my order she did not offer a receipt, I had to ask for it, and I think this is not up to standard. On a ligher note, the meals arrived in a short amount of time, but the service was lacking. This is why i will not...
