Bad experience today, started from the drinks, we ordered 1 Thai milk tea and 1 Thai Lemon Iced tea - both warm - very less ice.. we had to ask for more ice for it to be served better. The food, Papaya Salad - not authentic and more on the sweet side, fried rice - mushy and soft. Beef salad had a strong soy sauce flavour which over powered the salad dish. The worst we had today was the fish - I’m sure anyone would know what a spoiled fish tastes like , we were served a whole fish with herbs and spices inside. First bite - you could tell the fish is off, we let the server know .. manager came through - told us our fish was fresh daily.. went to the back to the kitchen and came out saying they can’t refund us and that we need to pay.. we only took a bite and could not eat the rest. - first problem was she kept repeating its fresh and that everyone loves the fish and acted like we didn’t know what fish tastes like. Okay we get it but did you try.. did you try make the chef taste .. no? What kind of service is that.. - I am very familiar with the taste of steamed fish with plenty of spices. I also work in the hospitality industry and I’m appalled. There was no care in what we tried to explain. Why would you make a customer pay for a dish they cannot eat because the fish is SPOILED. On top of that .. fish was not steamed properly. I hope management tries to see my point.
The food is really not authentic Thai. It’s more of modern Thai with...
Read more4.5 We visited Sook on a busy Friday night. With dining restrictions still in place they made perfect use of the outside space which is where we were seated. The weather turned wet soon after we arrived but with heating a screens we were (mostly) dry. The interior of Sook would have been more preferred with wall art and murals and a great atmosphere despite the limited number.
Food wise expect big serves and bold flavours. I enjoyed the crispy chicken wing entree and the mister corn fritters which I competed with the vegetarians in our group for. My Massamun beef curry was a large serve and the pad se ew was definitely our favourite of the noodle dishes we tried (the Pad Thai being a little too sweet for most in the group). The vegetarian yellow curry was mildly spiced and tasty and the purple rice/ coconut rice was a nice touch. Roti serves were small but the peanut satay sauce accompanying was like heaven.
Waiting staff did a phenomenal job on what was a busy Friday night. There was a few timing issues with the kitchen where things like rice came out well after everyone mains so noodle dishes were eaten but curry dishes were left waiting for rice. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Would definitely love to return again soon, sit inside and try so many of their tasty dishes we didn’t...
Read moreBrunch by day, Asian fusion by night - this black and white world was as delicious as it was fun for that 2D shot because the food here is actually top quality and restaurant-worthy, not just Instagram-worthy!
With generous serving sizes, everything on their dinner menu is made for sharing. The Larb was a delicious take on San Choy Bow using chicken mince and Thai instead of Chinese spices. It was fresh and came with three decent servings.
The Chicken Cashew Nut was moorish and quite filling, loaded with wok seared chicken breast with just the right amount of house chilli. Salty and sweet, I couldn't get enough of it.
And the Pad Thai Prawn is forever a Thai staple that won me over with plenty of flavourful prawns and noods cooked to chewy perfection.
It seriously is a place where dinner feels like art and entices you to stay a little longer. And the hospitality was second to none, letting me create my own cocktail - the Chambord inspired Regal Spritz was born!
With a space as creative as the dishes, come for the photos but definitely stay for the food (and...
