This garden is one of the best designed and well maintained for the space it covers. To have this so close to the CBD is just a blessing. Unlike the botanical gardens, you don't have to walk kilometres to experience an abundance of flowers with popful of bright colours, amazing sculptures like the model Tudor Village and fairy tree, find hidden private spaces for serenity like the mound and pond or the stream and fern gully, transport yourself into more bursts of colours at the conservatory, find plentiful picnic areas, or just have a pleasant walk through, all in one not so compact area. It's so cleverly designed that every area of interest feels like it's the star in its own space yet you could just walk a little further to be pulled into another completely different space. There are sections of the garden that's bookable for private events incl weddings for a reasonable fee. Cafe available on site. Public toilets available. Parking is available but high in demand i.e public transport advised.

Nestled amidst the bustling streets of Melbourne, Fitzroy Gardens was a delightful surprise. I wasn't expecting much from a city park, but stepping through the gates felt like entering another world. Lush greenery swallowed the noise of traffic, replaced by the melodic chirping of birds and the gentle gurgle of fountains. The gardens themselves were a wonderland of manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds bursting with color, and these towering old elm trees that provided these cool, shady pockets. I spent ages wandering the paths, getting lost in the maze of hedges and stopping every few minutes to admire a particularly beautiful bloom or a quirky statue. One of the highlights for me was Captain Cook's Cottage. Stepping inside that tiny house really transported me back in time. It's hard to imagine living in such a cramped space, but it definitely gave me a new appreciation for modern amenities! The Fairies Tree was another delightful discovery. All these little carved faces peeking out from the bark – it felt like something straight out of a fairytale. Overall, Fitzroy Gardens was a lovely escape from the urban jungle. It's a place where you can relax, recharge, and appreciate a bit of history and beauty. Whether you're a local or a tourist, I highly recommend taking a break and exploring this little oasis in the heart of Melbourne.

Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne is a breathtaking escape into nature right in the heart of the city. During my visit, I was captivated by the lush greenery and vibrant flower displays that make the gardens a true oasis. The carefully tended flower beds showcase a stunning array of blooms, including radiant roses, elegant tulips, and cheerful daisies. Each section of the garden features a different palette of colors, creating a picturesque landscape that evolves with the seasons. The contrast between the meticulously maintained lawns and the exuberant floral arrangements adds to the park’s charm. Walking through the gardens, I was struck by the peaceful ambiance and the sheer beauty of the natural surroundings. Fitzroy Gardens offers a serene retreat where nature’s splendor can be fully appreciated, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a tranquil escape.

I came by just to look at Cook's cottage but there is so much more here than that. The garden is quite large and has quite a lot of green space to sit and chill. Alternatively, you can walk around to see all the different fountains and buildings around the area. I quite liked the area around "boy on the turtle" as it had plenty of covered seating and has a pond too where you can watch the birds go in for a dip. The Dolphin fountain was also quite interesting but it wasn't spurting water like the other fountains. I'm guessing I would have liked the conservatory if it was open as it was a greenhouse with lots of different plants. This place is a really nice place to spend a few hours to look around or just to sit down and relax, which a lot of people were doing.
