I use to always go here during Covid lockdown days and a little after. Food and service has always been amazing. I haven’t been back for a while. Today, I had time to get some breakfast during work. The service has dropped. There was a cashier lady and a lady next to her helping. I wanted to get my usual tuna melt. The cashier lady , who looks in training, nicely asked me what type of bread. Now mind you I haven’t been for a while and I’m vision impaired. I asked “what types of bread is there ? Very nicely I asked may I add. The lady training her rudely interrupts with the most passive aggressive voice “it’s written. Look”. No smile and just looked so upset that I asked. I don’t know the difference to be honest with the breads except white bread and what if I had follow-up questions about the bread? I was too scared to ask after that in case of upsetting her more. This isn’t how a customer should feel.
To the owner, I just hope this was only my experience and not anyone else as that was a horrible experience and a bad start to my day. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone else to experience this. If the lady was having a bad day, sorry for that, but I was quite taken back. If it matters it happened at 10:42-10:43 17th July (today).
I always enjoyed Brioche by Philip. I was thinking about starting to go here again for breakfast. Please maintain quality control on the once so amazing customer service you guys...
Read moreI recently walked past Brioche by Philip and was hit with a wave of nostalgia. Years ago, when they were on Queen Street, this was my go-to breakfast spot before work. I remember their croque monsieur being one of the best in the city – buttery brioche, creamy béchamel, perfectly balanced.
This time, I grabbed a Nutella-filled chocolate doughnut, and it was absolutely incredible. The brioche dough was soft and airy, and the Nutella was rich and generously filled – every bite was indulgent without being overly sweet. It reminded me just how consistent their quality has always been.
The bakery still has that signature French flair with beautifully presented pastries and warm, professional service. They haven’t missed a beat over the years, and it was great to see that same level of care and execution in everything they do.
Can’t wait to go back – whether for a morning coffee and savoury pastry or another unforgettable doughnut. Still one of Melbourne’s...
Read moreI have visited Brioche quite a few times now and have been pleased with the service. They have a good stamp-card program, the staff are attentive and have memorised my team's order. Coffee is strong on request. Shop fittings have awesome industrial feel without being too trendy/hipster. The place doesn't get to crowded levels of busy during the day which is nice. As an added bonus they have their own pastries and sweets.
Prices are a little high, but compared to other locations in the city this is probably "middle of the row". There isn't a large range of coffee selections, so it's not a place to go for a special coffee beans or processes.
There are quite a few coffee places around the city and it's hard to choose which ones to go to. Brioche is the place to go to if you feel like getting a donut/sweet with your coffee, there are plenty of things to choose from with a crasy wide range...
