Best burger lists for Melbourne always list Royal Stacks and I was in the area so decided to give it a crack. It was pretty disappointing. Let’s start at service. I get that it’s the future and QR code ordering at the table is normal but I always prefer to order at the counter. We weren’t given that option even though it was available. I notice the ‘handy’ application also charges you an approx 3% surcharge and it asks you if you want to tip the staff. What for? I barely had any interaction with them. I found the online ordering to be clunky with some available burgers not in the burger section. My go to burger when I’m trying a new place is the version of the double with bacon. This was unavailable as were onion rings, concrete shakes and a few other items. There was a smaller burger with bacon and onion available (Shakespeare). There was no table service, when the food was ready you had to go up to the counter and get it yourself. The soft drinks were filled by ourselves and the bar staff girl who was quite friendly handed me the empty cups with her fingers conspicuously on the inside of the cups. I’ve had my shots and I like to believe that hospitality workers wash their hands all the time so I cracked on but that was not a good look. There was no meal option so everything had to be ordered seperate. And it was definitely on the higher end of cost for a modern burger joint. For the positives there was free tomato sauce and mustard. They give you a lot of napkins even though the burgers were very neat to eat. Some joints give you wet wipes now. The fries were shoestring and had great seasoning and were cooked perfectly. I had the double stack and half of my wife’s kavorka chicken burger. The double stack was fine. Fresh ingredients and good flavours. The burger didn’t collapse as I ate it and I had minimal mess to clean up. The kavorka was the star, that bad boy was delicious! I wish I could have tried the double with bacon. Burger joints are a dime a dozen now and I haven’t had a bad burger yet so you really need to differentiate yourself from the mob. The danger of franchising is you lose that uniqueness and care that the OG shop would have. The decor and design is confusing to me. Graffiti on the walls, random Home Alone posters, old NBA games on the ceiling TV, Mr Bean playing on another. Can I be clear that the food was OK? The staff were nice except for putting their fingers in my drink cups. I just expect more now, especially for that price. Royal Stacks, I don’t think I’ll be backs (sorry for the bad joke, it just...

The burgers at Royal Stacks Collins Street are often praised for being delicious, juicy and of high quality. They have a range of burgers on their menu, including vegetarian options, and also offer sides such as fries, onion rings and loaded fries. Some people have noted that the portion sizes can be a bit small, especially for the Located in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, Royal Stacks Collins Street is in a convenient location for those looking for a quick bite while shopping or exploring the city. The restaurant has a casual and trendy vibe, with modern decor and an open kitchen. The prices at Royal Stacks Collins Street are considered to be on the higher side for fast food, but generally in line with other gourmet burger joints in the area. The interior of the restaurant is modern and trendy, with a bright and clean look. The open kitchen adds to the atmosphere, and the seating is comfortable, although it can get crowded during peak times. There is some outdoor seating available, which is a nice option on a sunny day. The staff at Royal Stacks Collins Street are often praised for being friendly and efficient. They are knowledgeable about the menu and can offer recommendations if needed. Royal Stacks Collins Street has a range of soft drinks and milkshakes available, as well as a small selection of beers and wines. The milkshakes are a particular highlight, with many people raving about their creamy and delicious taste. While burgers are the main attraction at Royal Stacks Collins Street, they also offer a few other items on their menu, such as chicken burgers, salads and desserts. However, the burgers are definitely the standout option. Overall, Royal Stacks Collins Street is considered to be a great spot for burgers in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. Another burger joint? Think I need to spend more time in the gym.

Royal stack opened to much fanfare in 2015. The brain child of the guys that brings you amazing burgers at the Dandenong Pavilion – Dani Zeni and Josh Leffers (Motorhome Majestic fame) who coincidentally also brought you the Grand Trailer Park Taverna, this was sure to delight you like a good American food place should.

When you walk in, you’re immediately taken aback by the bright lights and funky pop music. The beats are pumping and you don’t know whether to dance or eat. Thankfully, I was really hungry and the appetite won out over the need to dance.

Ordering the Bacon Bacon and chilli cheese fries, it wasn’t long before the food arrived. I’m always intrigued by the idea of having those coasters that light up.

I think it’s a good way to make you build your appetite for the meal. It’s the anticipation that gets you the most.

The Bacon Bacon is exactly what you’d expect, ground beef patties with chewy bacon and sauce that tantalises your tastebuds. It was juicy, succulent and worthy of the awesome pickles that are included.

The cheese fries? Dear gawd do not get it!! That cheese is literally like plastic. I was so hungry that I still ate it but I don’t think I would do it or recommend it again. Give it a miss completely. [Update: I suffered because of this – seriously avoid this one completely]

Overall for the price, I was ok with it but given my experience with the cheese fries, I’d stick with the burger.

The free ice cream, on the other hand, was the main items that saved this experience from being overly negative. You got to try the Salted Caramel ice cream. The smooth creamy texture and rich flavour is the right way to end this experience.

I am neither sold nor am I repulsed. It was a rather average experience and it would take a lot for me to get...

Have no idea how i've missed the fact their is a Royal Stacks on Collins St Melb for 3 years and never tasted their 'incredibleness' - this place really rocks. Fantastic staff from the engaging manager that actually seems to care what you think, to the host staff behind the counter and willing to clean up your mess for you. Best of all - the FOOD is incredible. There are many burger joints around now, but Royal Stacks are doing is REALLY WELL, i mean REALLY WELL. You will love the food and it's reasonably priced. Some joints now are getting ludicrous with pricing, but not Royal Stacks. Incredible i had some amazeballs CHICKEN burger - The Kavorka - that was so juicy and tender, the crispy fried crumbed outside - it was to die for. lovely coleslaw, cheesy sauce and special mayo and bun - all manner of delicious ingredients, it wouldn't have been out of place if it was served up at the Stokehouse for $29.50... it was great great eating. Others had The Saint or the Bacon Bacon.. they were likewise fantastic - juicy tender hand made seasoned premium meat patties EVERYDAY. Nothing frozen EVER, always fresh, not many other places can truly tell you that. Add to that an old time gem.. .yes Tater Tots, or Potato Gems.. golden fried nuggets of love, i loved them as a kid and loved them tonight as well, they were beautifully cooked golden. But to top it off they have incredible in-house made ice-cream / custard/ gelato as well... Talk about both my loves - ice-cream and burgers... i might as well camp out and set up house. Great drinks, bottled or post-mix with ice which i personally like, the odd re-fill doesn't go astray.. .it was great. Nice fit out as well.. super busy i hear on weekends and they even have 3 stores in CHINA now too... a must for burger and ice-cream lovers. A must... the menu is varied enough for everyone.
