Busy Burger and the Busy Boy Café follow the weird principle that there are customers second and first class for the same business, that just seem to have 2 names. They use the same kitchen (as staff from the Café is running in and out of the busy burger kitchen to get stuff for the Café) . Having bought food from busy burger and moving into the Café (there is a door in the customer area that connects both areas) and having bought food worth 30$, we were advised by staff that we could not sit inside the Café!?! In other words: Buy a coffee in the Café for 5$ you are in, buying food worth 30$ on the wrong side of the business and you are sitting on the street! I have been in a fair amount of catering establishments around the globe but this is one of the weirdest business policies I have ever encountered and I would call it grotesque or maybe real life Satire. Worth a Mr. Bean sketch for sure. The food, don't forget the working people in the kitchen that don't carry company policy mostly, was very good! The loaded cheese and bacon chips/ fries were particularly awesome and some of the best I ever had with a nice decoration on top! Maybe let the cook make the business...
Read moreFull points for a rare show of pre-pandemic hospitality. These days there are 4 or so things I want from a cafe: table service friendly atmosphere quality coffee Eggs included with fritters or smashed avo (not $4ea?) Busy Boy has these and then some.
Ate here for brunch this morning for a refreshing change from a world of 5 item generic menus, QR code self service and having to request table water.
The menu is generous with variety from different cultural backgrounds. There are also your cafe staples at reasonable prices. Servings are large. I had the corn flake french toast and it was wonderfully cooked - fluffy and light without oozing oils or fats. All dishes were nicely garnished with thought into the presentation.
Coffee was served in a large mug and nicely balanced - not bitter or burnt. We were given table water on sitting down with friendly, immediate service. Food was out within 15 minutes on a busy Saturday morning.
The vibe is retro but fun, and staff even wore colours to match.
Highly recommend for a reliable go-to cafe that has solid options and friendly full...
