Mentone Beach — Local services in Melbourne

I have been coming to this beach for over 20 years, but as I moved away from the area I hadn't been in a while. I was pleasantly surprised to see the changes to this and subsequent beaches along the coast here.

They have upgraded the bike and pedestrian paths at street level and have put in small carparks where you can pay with an app, credit card or coins. I highly recommend the app as you only pay for the amount of time you are there. Otherwise try and find off street free parking across the road, but watch for permit zones.

The beach itself can be accessed at different entry points, there are a variety of steps leading down to the beach. In the warmer months it is popular due to the fact that it isn't a dangerous beach and the water is usually flat, clear and warm. It is a popular place to SUP, paddle board, kayak, swim, exercise, walk and even take your dog - check signs for allowances.

There is a sandy pathway to walk or run on, there is the street level bike / walk track and then there is the lower level concrete path which is the closest to the sand / water. It is worth noting that this is a super clean beach and I have seen COVID cleaners wiping down railings etc recently. There is a small pier and a BBQ / picnic rotunda that you can access. Is a great place to photograph, especially on cloudy days - see photos.

Mentone beach tracks for running, leisurely walks and dog walking are well subscribed. Numerous places to park vehicles on the Beach road, sanitary facilities and bins are available for users. Running parallel are sandy tracks, too. Hence, serious runners have a plethora of choices. During my bi-weekly runs, I was glad to see people of all ages involved in physical activities like swimming, boating, and ground exercises apart from running and walking. Colorful tile art on the tracks and metal art on the side berms add to viewing pleasure. Dogs running playfully, socializing and swimming are a treat to watch. My running experience is enhanced by many strangers smiling or saying hello to me! Photographers are another group of professional who can be seen during dawn and sunset times. 24/7 off leash dog Beach racked every morn by council Bins galore for doggy bags The beach stretched from Mentone to Mordialloc..truly beautiful from sunrise to sunset.. a photographer's delight At one end orange cliffs at the other end a mariner ( Mordy) A brand new state of the art Life Savers Club house with a cafe etc still under construction but it's architecturally stunning! There's a broad-walk all the way from Mentone to Mordy There is a trail along the top of the cliffs ( if you prefer) views are amazing.
